Three Things

August 16, 2012 by Julie 126 Comments

Three fun things from last night:

  • Cookies

flourless nutella cookies

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve already seen these flourless Nutella cookies. Holy goodness. I didn’t measure the ingredients when I made them, but I’d imagine the proportions are similar to these flourless peanut butter cookies, but with a teaspoon of baking soda added in as well.

  • So You Think You Can Dance

After a two-week hiatus, this show is back! Ryan and I aren’t regularly watching any other shows at the moment (we’re anxiously awaiting the return of New Girl and Modern Family), so we were happy to chill on the couch, eat cookies and critique the dancers as if we actually knew what we were talking about last night. I’m still waiting for a dance from this season to top the “Misty Blue” or “My Chick Bad” routines that are two of my all-time favorites.  (Fun fact for my fellow UCF Knights: Tiffany is a UCF student!)

  • The arrival of Insurgent

insurgent

It’s no secret just how much I loved the book Divergent. (If you liked The Hunger Games, I cannot recommend Divergent enough. It’s a dystopian fan’s dream!) Insurgent is the sequel to Divergent and I actually preordered it months ago, but the credit card I used to preorder it expired, so I was never charged and it never showed up. I finally got around to ordering it on Monday and cannot wait to dive in. Ryan loved Divergent as well, so he’s just as pumped to read Insurgent as I am!

Breakfast

Breakfast this morning was oh so good.

greek yogurt pancakes 003

Greek yogurt pancakes!

The texture of these pancakes gets me every time. They’re more eggy than basic buttermilk pancakes and I just love ‘em.

Git in mah belly!

Question of the Morning

  • What was the last book you read that you absolutely loved?

I couldn’t tear myself away from Gone Girl, but I think Sarah’s Key was the last book I read that I could not stop talking about to everyone I knew (especially those who love WWII historical fiction). I read it in two days and thought it was amazing.

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I know you didn’t choose “Firefly Lane” by Kristin Hannah for August’s book club, but since reading your review a few weeks ago, I decided to pick it up… well, I haven’t been able to put it down. For someone who doesn’t read (like… ever), this is a big step for me. The story is great. I can’t wait to finish.

I love WWII historical fiction too. I think you’d really like Molokai by Alan Brennert. I can’t stop recommending it to anyone who will listen haha. I think it’s the best book I’ve read in years.

I’m pretty sure I love all things Twitch. He’s just amazing.
I wasn’t that much of a fan of having them ‘repeat’ old routines last night. I think living up to the hype of such great routines is a little too much…But what do I know – I usually just end up doing the macarena.

I just read (and reviewed!) The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han. I loved it so, so much, I cannot stop raving about it or thinking about it. It’s a fantastic summer read! Totally different than Gone Girl and Sarah’s Key, but still so good. I’ve never been so moved by YA before…

I didn’t like Insurgent nearly as much as Divergent. Without giving anything away, the characters seemed super immature (well, because they’re teenagers) and the whole time I was hoping it wasn’t going where I thought it was, and it did and I didn’t care for it.

Hi! I’m new to your blog and I love this post! I love, love, LOVE So You Think You Can Dance and I’m so excited it’s back on! I’m eagerly awaiting the return of How I Met Your Mother as well.

I have heard good things about Divergent. I’ll have to give it a try. The end of Gone Girl made me SOOOOO mad!! I would have thrown my Nook Tablet across this room if I wasn’t afraid it would break (that baby ain’t cheap!). I just finished a book called The Secret Daughter last night. I could not put it down! It was amazingly good!

I look forward to more posts from your blog. I’m glad I found you. I think through Pinterest actually. 😉 Have a great day!

I just read This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen and I loved it. It’s not your typical lovey-dovey novel which is probably why I liked it so much! Aaaaaand I finished the Hunger Games series for the 5th time. I had to get ready for the DVD! 🙂

This Lullaby was one of my favorite books in High School. I pretty much loved all Sarah Dessen books back then but that was the best! I recently noticed she has some new books out and I am tempted to read them since she was one of my go to authors for so long. I actually really like American Wife and it is probably one of my top books I have read this year.

I looooved Divergent and actually also started reading Insurgent last week. But i am really struggling with getting into it because there is no recap. I don’t remember who any of the people are besides the main characters or which faction is which. It’s been really confusing so far, googling has helped tho! But everyone loves the book so i’m pumped to see what happens.

Since you seem to do small batches of pancakes on a regular basis, what is your recipe with the proportions? Thanks 🙂

Divergent and Insurgent were great! Still can’t believe the author is just 23. I highly recommend For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund, I read it in a couple of days – it’s like a dystopian version of a Jane Austen novel and I absolutely loved it. Uglies was also really good, once I got through the first 50 pages I couldn’t put it down!
