Three fun things from last night:
- Cookies
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve already seen these flourless Nutella cookies. Holy goodness. I didn’t measure the ingredients when I made them, but I’d imagine the proportions are similar to these flourless peanut butter cookies, but with a teaspoon of baking soda added in as well.
- So You Think You Can Dance
After a two-week hiatus, this show is back! Ryan and I aren’t regularly watching any other shows at the moment (we’re anxiously awaiting the return of New Girl and Modern Family), so we were happy to chill on the couch, eat cookies and critique the dancers as if we actually knew what we were talking about last night. I’m still waiting for a dance from this season to top the “Misty Blue” or “My Chick Bad” routines that are two of my all-time favorites. (Fun fact for my fellow UCF Knights: Tiffany is a UCF student!)
- The arrival of Insurgent
It’s no secret just how much I loved the book Divergent. (If you liked The Hunger Games, I cannot recommend Divergent enough. It’s a dystopian fan’s dream!) Insurgent is the sequel to Divergent and I actually preordered it months ago, but the credit card I used to preorder it expired, so I was never charged and it never showed up. I finally got around to ordering it on Monday and cannot wait to dive in. Ryan loved Divergent as well, so he’s just as pumped to read Insurgent as I am!
Breakfast
Breakfast this morning was oh so good.
The texture of these pancakes gets me every time. They’re more eggy than basic buttermilk pancakes and I just love ‘em.
Git in mah belly!
Question of the Morning
- What was the last book you read that you absolutely loved?
I couldn’t tear myself away from Gone Girl, but I think Sarah’s Key was the last book I read that I could not stop talking about to everyone I knew (especially those who love WWII historical fiction). I read it in two days and thought it was amazing.
Sabrina says
I know you didn’t choose “Firefly Lane” by Kristin Hannah for August’s book club, but since reading your review a few weeks ago, I decided to pick it up… well, I haven’t been able to put it down. For someone who doesn’t read (like… ever), this is a big step for me. The story is great. I can’t wait to finish.
MJ says
The Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy
Brigitt says
I love WWII historical fiction too. I think you’d really like Molokai by Alan Brennert. I can’t stop recommending it to anyone who will listen haha. I think it’s the best book I’ve read in years.
Tamara says
I’m pretty sure I love all things Twitch. He’s just amazing.
I wasn’t that much of a fan of having them ‘repeat’ old routines last night. I think living up to the hype of such great routines is a little too much…But what do I know – I usually just end up doing the macarena.
Linda says
I just read Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour and The Fault In Our Stars. Both were wonderful and I finished both within a few days (only stopping for work and sleeping).
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
I got Insurget on Tuesday and I’m almost done – amazing as expected! 😉
Jess @ JessieBear What Will You Wear says
I just read Outlander (for the second time…) and even though I’ve already read it, I couldn’t put it down. Literally the best book I’ve ever read!
Allison @ Running Through Red Lights says
SYTYCD is my all time favorite TV show! I’ve watched every episode from first season until now, and I’m LOVE it! I can’t dance to save my life, but I’m so impressed by everyone’s abilities and creativity!
Kristen @ The Balanced Bowl says
Your pancakes look divine!
If you enjoyed Sarah’s Key (a “couldn’t put down” of mine as well), you would also really like The Invisible Wall by Harry Bernstein.
🙂
Brie @ Eat Books says
I just read (and reviewed!) The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han. I loved it so, so much, I cannot stop raving about it or thinking about it. It’s a fantastic summer read! Totally different than Gone Girl and Sarah’s Key, but still so good. I’ve never been so moved by YA before…
Kelli Preston says
I know I am late to the party with this one, but I just read Hunger Games and I loved it! I can’t wait to read sequels.
Jess says
Omg someone who is just as in love with Twitch as me <3 haha. The best has gotttt to be when him and alex did "Outta your Mind".

It's a must see! And I cant wait to start Insurgent, I just finished Divergent. You got me hooked!
Liz @ Southern Charm says
Seeing Insurgent makes me want to re-read it!!! You will love it if you loved the first one!!
Amy @ Elephant Eats says
Insurgent was SOOOO good. I literally started reading it again the second I finished it. I can’t believe the third one isn’t even out yet…I don’t know how I’m going to wait 🙁
Lissy says
I didn’t like Insurgent nearly as much as Divergent. Without giving anything away, the characters seemed super immature (well, because they’re teenagers) and the whole time I was hoping it wasn’t going where I thought it was, and it did and I didn’t care for it.
Annette@FitnessPerks says
I really liked Insurgent! It’s a good one<–you'll love it!
I also really liked Sarah's Key<–I love historical fiction too & the movie was pretty good too.
Recent great books were "Under the Never Sky" and "Firefly Lane"
Tina @ Best Body Fitness says
I’m SO glad SYTYCD is back!!!!
Ashley Agee says
Ahh! I loved Insurgent!! I can’t wait for the 3rd book and to hear when a movie will be made – you know they’ll have to make one!

I just finished reading The Art of Racing in the Rain. I loved it! It’s a book written in the perspective of the dog. Being a dog lover I think you would like it to!
Allison says
Insurgent is so good!! You’re going to love it!
Julianna @ Julianna Bananna says
i absolutely LOVED insurgent! i actually read divergent because you did a review of it – and literally could not put the book down.
Haley says
Sarah’s key is potentially my favorite book I’ve ever read….so good!!
Maranda says
Hi! I’m new to your blog and I love this post! I love, love, LOVE So You Think You Can Dance and I’m so excited it’s back on! I’m eagerly awaiting the return of How I Met Your Mother as well.
I have heard good things about Divergent. I’ll have to give it a try. The end of Gone Girl made me SOOOOO mad!! I would have thrown my Nook Tablet across this room if I wasn’t afraid it would break (that baby ain’t cheap!). I just finished a book called The Secret Daughter last night. I could not put it down! It was amazingly good!
I look forward to more posts from your blog. I’m glad I found you. I think through Pinterest actually. 😉 Have a great day!
Sara says
I just read This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen and I loved it. It’s not your typical lovey-dovey novel which is probably why I liked it so much! Aaaaaand I finished the Hunger Games series for the 5th time. I had to get ready for the DVD! 🙂
Rachael says
This Lullaby was one of my favorite books in High School. I pretty much loved all Sarah Dessen books back then but that was the best! I recently noticed she has some new books out and I am tempted to read them since she was one of my go to authors for so long. I actually really like American Wife and it is probably one of my top books I have read this year.
Mila @ loftyappetite says
I looooved Divergent and actually also started reading Insurgent last week. But i am really struggling with getting into it because there is no recap. I don’t remember who any of the people are besides the main characters or which faction is which. It’s been really confusing so far, googling has helped tho! But everyone loves the book so i’m pumped to see what happens.
Kristen says
Glass Castle – read it in two days and I NEVER do that.
Roz @ Fit Blogging for Fun, Family & Profit says
I already read Insurgent, I got the digital copy for my ipad, really good read!
katie says
Insurgent doesn’t disappoint. And since you are a bachelor/bachelorette fan you will like The Selection by Kiera Cass also super good is the Matched series by Allie Condie.
Erica @ Love the Leap says
Halfway through Insurgent and it’s awesome!!! Supposedly a third book is coming out next year? Have you heard anything about this?
Brandi says
I just ordered them!! You always have the best books on here! Thanks Julie! 🙂
Katy says
Pancakes! I’ve been looking for nice alternative to my oatmeal breakfasts and these look like just the ticket. I have made Edna Mae’s sour cream pancakes in the past (aren’t they the bomb?!). Since you seem to do small batches of pancakes on a regular basis, what is your recipe with the proportions? Thanks 🙂
Holly says
I’m going to have to bookmark this post because I’m always looking for new reads. I LOVED Sarah’s Key as well. I have Gone Girl on my Nook right now..just waiting for me to finish the 3rd book of Shades of Gray. I’m hooked on the series. Once you start you just can’t stop..haha!
Elisabeth says
I hate to say it, but I’m speeding through the 50 Shades series… They’re not great literary works or anything, but I am really enjoying them 😉
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles says
I’ve been reading the Game of Thrones series – they take forever to read but they’re so good!
Courtney says
If you liked Sarah’s Key, you HAVE to read The Lost Wife. I could not put it down! So good, so sad… I love WW II era books!
Alex @ Healthy Life Happy Wife says
I really want to read Divergent! I’ve been meaning to download it!!
& I’m sooooo glad SYTYCD is back on!! I’ve missed it!!
joelle (on a pink typewriter) says
Okay, every tiem I see that pic of your cookies I think at first that they’re dinner rolls – and now I want a cookie AND a roll. 😉
Last book I couldn’t stop telling people about was Girls in White Dresses- get it!!! Also felt that way about American Wife and Sarah’s Key.
Kate@watchhershrink says
Insurgent was just as amazing as Divergent in my opinion! I actually think Divergent/Insurgent were the last books I couldn’t shut up about. Very good books! 🙂
Sarah N says
Insurgent is so good! I just re-read it and it took me a a day and a half! I cannot wait for the last book to come out!
Laurin says
I just finished (less than a half hour ago!) the memoir, ‘Mrs. Kennedy and Me’. I’ve never been fascinated with the Kennedy family, but now, I’m intrigued! The book was fantastic!
Courtney says
Lone Survivor is by far the BEST book I’ve ever read. I read it in a day and wished it was 5,000 pages so it would never end. Best news ever….they are making it into a movie and it will be out in 2013!
Mariah says
I had Greek yogurt pancakes for the first time this morning! Sooo good. I’ve seen you post about them a few times and finally got around to making them – definitely going to be a staple in my diet from now on!
Katie says
The Hunger Games series were the last books I’ve read and actually finished. I’ve been trying to read Brave New World (because I’ve always wanted to), buuuuuuuut I keep getting distracted.
Lindsay says
If you liked Sarah’s Key (I did too, and liked the movie as well!) you should definitely read The Book Thief. It’s another Holocaust fiction. The writing was amazing. One of the best books I’ve read in a long time.
Julie says
Can you PLEASE share your recipe for the nutella flourless cookies? To a gluten free girl, they sound
amazing for a camping trip!
Christina @ The Beautiful Balance says
Those cookies!!! YUM!
Kylee says
I LOVED Divergent and Insurgent, but was SO disappointed to find out that the third book in the series isn’t scheduled to come out until NEXT fall! UGH!
Bek @ Crave says
Yum, you constantly remind me how I really need to eat pancakes more ahha!
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
I hope you enjoy insurgent, I loved it!! Now I’m dying for the next book but it doesn’t come out until fall 2013
Jenni says
Divergent and Insurgent were great! Still can’t believe the author is just 23. I highly recommend For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund, I read it in a couple of days – it’s like a dystopian version of a Jane Austen novel and I absolutely loved it. Uglies was also really good, once I got through the first 50 pages I couldn’t put it down!
