Top Non-Food and Fitness Posts 2014

January 6, 2015 by Julie 50 Comments

It’s time for the last post in the Top Posts of 2014 mini-series!

Catching up?

  • Top Workouts of 2014
  • Top Recipes of 2014

Since I know some of you began reading PBF for the first time later this year (thank you!), hopefully some of these posts will give you a little glimpse back into some of the fun that’s happened on the blog in the past! Today’s list includes the top posts on this blog outside of the food and fitness realm.

Top Non-Food and Fitness Posts of 2014

1. What To Pack for a Trip to Europe

Different Ways to Wear the Same Black Dress

This is just a throwback post (oh hey, 2011), but I still remember how much fun it was to write. It gives a little glimpse into my packing strategies before a family trip to Europe when I had to cram everything I needed for a long trip in a carry on. (In the above photo, I’m wearing the same black dress a variety of ways to extend its wear!) I love seeing travel-related posts make this list because I have so much fun writing about anything travel related.

2. Bachelorette Party Question Book Game

Bachelorette Party Game

This game is so much fun and I’ve played it at nearly every bachelorette party I’ve attended. If you have a bachelorette party coming up in the future, I highly recommend this game! It’s a fun way to incorporate the groom into the activities.

3. Budget Friendly Valentine’s Day Ideas (+ Part Two!)

Budget Friendly Valentine's Day Gift Ideas

With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, I’m happy to highlight this post again. It’s full of affordable gift ideas for those looking to spread the love without spending a ton of money. I did another roundup post the following year which almost claimed its own stop on this top ten list, coming in at the 14th most popular non-food/fitness related post on PBF last year!

4. Bridesmaid Gift Ideas

Bridesmaid Gift Ideas

I had a blast putting this blog post together! It includes a roundup of some of unique bridesmaid gift ideas to help the women who stand by your side on your wedding day feel appreciated and adored.

5. NASM Study Guide

NASM Personal Trainer Study Tips

After I obtained my NASM personal training certification, I wrote this post to share all about my experience! It contains a long list of  “must know” items on the test as well as study tips that helped me pass on the first try.

6. How To Pack Everything In A Carry On Suitcase

Tips for Packing Everything in a Carry On Suitcase

I wrote this blog post on a plane (how appropriate) and shared my top tips for keeping travel light!

7. We’re Moving

We're Moving

This was the big announcement post about our move from Ocala, Florida to Charlotte, North Carolina. It’s a fun one for me to look back on because we were so, so excited! The change has been a great one for the Fagan family, that’s for sure!

8. Leslie’s Savannah Bachelorette Party: Day One + Day Two

Matching Bachelorette Party Shirts

Planning and attending my sister’s bachelorette party in Savannah, Georgia was one of the highlights of last year for me! I loved seeing my sister surrounded by friends who love her and care so much about her. Plus, her friends are a ton of fun, so we all had a great time living it up in Savannah!

9. Ross and Leslie’s Wedding: Part One, Part Two & Part Three

Wedding Sparkler Send Off St. Augustine

Sharing a glimpse into my sister and her husband’s wedding day was so special to me. I loved being able to document the day with the help of her photographer’s stunning pictures!

10. Leslie’s Bridal Shower

Bridal Shower Game

Apparently everything about my sister’s wedding should just be included in this post, huh? A recap of the bridal shower my mom and I planned for my sister rounds out this top ten list! It was such a memorable day and my mom and I had a great time working together to plan a fun bridal shower brunch for Leslie!

Question of the Afternoon

I can’t believe your Eurotrip was so long ago. Feels like it was just this year! I would love to see a post on acclimating to a new city – making friends as an adult, finding a place to volunteer, finding a new job.

Your packing post actually helped me when I had to pack for my Africa trip. They have very strict weight/size restrictions on the safari flight in Africa, so I had to pack very lightly (which was beyond challenging for me). Your post really helped me to minimize and pick out necessities and items that could be used multiple ways.

That being said, one of my most memorable moments in 2014 was coming within feet of lions, elephants, giraffes, and rhinos.

My favorite moment was the “Ah-ha!” moment of finally figuring out what I want to do with my life. Like a new relationship, it really does come when you’re least expecting it!

…okay, so now the husband part can come….least expecting it over here 😉

I had a lot of things happen this year, but my favorite two were probably my honeymoon to the Maldives and Dubai and running my first half marathon. Both were such great experiences!

Im glad you included your NASM post bc I definitely read through it while deciding which certification I should get. Im studying for the test now (and procrastinating by blog reading), so I may refer back to it before the big day!

My sister’s wedding too! The whole weekend was sooo amazing and being a MOH (co-moh with our other sister) was a BLAST. I felt like a VIP the whole night. I also just got into a kickass workout schedule in 2014 (lots of mornings and almost every day) at great studios around Boston. xo

Hi Julie and Happy New Year! Really enjoyed your post about packing for vacation….spot on! I used to live in London and took a lot of mini vacations in Europe, flying on cheapo Ryan Air, which meant cramming everything into a teeny tiny backpack! Looks like you had a blast 🙂 Quick question, where did you find your pink wrap around cardigan?? So cute!!
