Top Twitter Users in Your Area

March 6, 2013 by Julie 93 Comments

Good morning to you!

Let’s start the day off with a big breakfast sandwich, shall we?

avocado egg breakfast sandwich

Four steps to success: Toasted whole wheat English muffin + Cheese + 2 eggs + Avocado

egg and avocado breakfast sandwich

So good!

Top Twitter Users in Your Area

Twitter users = Tweeters? I don’t know. Twitter is so weird.

Does anyone else feel totally lame when they talk about Twitter? Just saying “I tweeted” makes me giggle because, really, the word is just ridiculous and sounds a lot more like a nickname for flatulence than a status update of some sort.

The other day I saw a list of the top Twitter users in the word. I immediately had Ryan guess the number one tweeter and he was at a loss.

It’s the Biebs, of course!

ryan and the biebs

Best buds.

According to Twitaholic, the top 10 Twitter users based on their number of followers include:

Top Twitter Users

As I kept reading down the list, I said, “Who in the world is Kaka?” which made Ryan laugh because I put the emPHAsis on the wrong syllABLE. (For those of you in the dark like me, Kaká is a famous soccer player and you don’t say his name like caca. There’s an extra emphasis on the final “a.”)

Since I was already way too interested in the top Twitter users in the world, I then popped over to Tweet Grader, a website I learned about at the Central Florida Blogger and Social Media conference. The site lists the top Twitter users based on their number of followers in certain areas.

Since I don’t live in a major city with a professional sports team or anything like that, I was quite curious to see the top Twitter users in Ocala. (A photographer, Kent Weakley, and “The Brain Guy,” Doug Bench, claimed the top two spots.)

I figured some of you guys might share my amusement for odd things like this and might get a kick out of this little tool, too!

So I ask you…

  • Who is the top Twitter user in your area? Have you heard of them before?

Click here to type in your location to investigate!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

AHH I love it! Vince McMahon donated a TON of money to my college so he spoke at my graduation. It was HILARIOUS. He spoke about how he got where he was and DIDN’T graduate college! BEST college graduation speech ever.

I am sure I wouldn’t know who it is so I won’t even check. I just started using twitter more recently but I feel like there is a certain etiquette about it that I don’t get. So I agree that twitter is weird. Fun though, but weird.

WOW! That sandwich looks to die for! Bread (gotta have carbs!), eggs, cheese, AND avocado? The only thing that might make that better is a little hummus or salsa. I am almost drooling just looking at it. Maybe I should have eaten breakfast by now… 😉

I…don’t use Twitter! So I do not know much about it :).

This is really interesting! I use Twitter a lot lately, and I find it’s become my biggest source of blog traffic. I connect with a lot of other bloggers there too.

I usually calll Twitter users “Tweeps,” like a combo of Twitter and peeps.

The top Twitter user in my area is a Font company I’ve never heard of. #12 for my area is actually a photographer I go to church with, though. That’s a pretty neat website!

Not surprising to see Beiber at #1 and I knew Lady Gaga had lots of followers too.

I have not yet been bitten by the twitter bug. I guess since I have Facebook I do my family/friends updates on there. Seems kinda funny to do random “tweets” like “I am eating lunch right now” and “Where is my sweater”. Plus, I can’t figure out the whole hashtag thing – it gets in the way of the message! 🙂

I have never gone over to the ‘dark side’ aka twitter. I honestly don’t know what the difference is between twitter and facebook. I only use Facebook about 1-2 times per week anyways. It just seems like such a waste of a time and it’s so annoying some of the garbage people post. Like how people post their entire day as they go through it.

I’m surprised by the lack of actors listed in the Top Ten. I figured they would mainly be individuals from current pop culture scenes, but who knew it was only musicians with interesting things to say? =P This is worldwide though, right? So I guess music really is universal?

For my short fiction workshop class I had to write a Twitter conversation and had no idea what I was doing! It took about two hours of research before I could get comfortable with the form of how to recreate one of those things. That site you posted is too funny! Among the top twitter-ers in my area, Cleveland, Ohio is a musician I’ve never heard of, a crazy member of the NRA who wants to impeach Obama and try him with Treason (some people have too much time on their hands, literally), and (yay!) chef Michael Symon!
