Pecan Fingers?

October 12, 2010 by Julie 39 Comments

What a nutty start to the day!

Pecans

I know this blog basically screams about my love for peanuts and peanut butter, but, truth be told, my favorite nuts are actually pecans.

One of my favorite smells in the world is the smell of cinnamon-sugar pecans roasting in the oven.

I’m not sure if cinnamon-sugar pecans are common everywhere, but I always seem them for sale during the intermission of local plays or musicals, or at basketball games or festivals. They are great on their own, but are especially delicious when served atop the best chocolate fudge sundae in the world.

Also, for whatever reason, cinnamon-sugar pecans remind me of Christmas and that’s always a good thing! 😀

Christmas 2009

Sadly the pecans I enjoyed this morning were not coated in cinnamon or sugar, but they were still delicious served alongside a toasted whole wheat English muffin topped with the pumpkin/PB2 mix I adore.

Monday Breakfast Plate

Nutty Pumpkin English Muffin Sandwich

This breakfast hit the spot after my morning run with Sadie.

We covered five miles and ran them all at a nice, easy pace. We stopped a couple of times for an abnormal amount of potty breaks (not surprising) and finished the run in around 50 minutes.

    Hi Julie and other readers,
This is regarding peanut butter — Do any of you know why Skippy’s All Natural peanut butter tastes like regular peanut butter and other All Natural PBs don’t? And why is it that you don’t have to stir it? Is Skippy’s not actually “All natural”? This is a little random but I thought one of you PB connoisseurs would know! Thx!

hi sara! skippy natural is more natural than many peanut butters on the market, though it is not like the other “natural” peanut butters that have only one ingredient: peanuts. Sskippy natural pb actually has four ingredients: peanuts, sugar, palm oil, and salt. the ingredient list is much shorter than typical pb, but it’s not ONLY peanuts. hope this helps!

I agree…pecans are awesome! My grandpa has a huge pecan tree in his back yard and growing up I loved collecting them by the handful and cracking them open for my pecan surprise!! Now when I go visit I can’t help but snap a few (read a few thousand) and go to town on some pecan eating!

I just had walnuts in my yogurt this morning! I do like pecans better, though, and so does my dad. Each year at Christmas, my grandma gives my dad a huge bag of pecans and he pops them in a freezer to enjoy all year long! I sneak some handfuls every now and then when I’m home 🙂

It’s to die for…I’m going to swing by the grocery at lunch and pick everything up for dinner tonight because now I’ve got a serious craving for spaghetti squash haha!

I love pralines, which I think are candied pecans. They’re so delicious!

Some days at work, my boss will fry up some raw pecans in the deep fryer to put in our homemade ice cream. It makes the entire kitchen smell sweet and nutty.

Those are the good shifts! 😉
