At the vet’s office this week, as Sadie sat on my lap in the waiting room, I tried flipping through a magazine.
That didn’t really work and I ended up just petting Sadie, but I managed to catch a glimpse of one article that sparked my interest.
What did your older child want to name your younger child? (Props to the kid who wanted to name their brother Mufasa. Awesome.)
This article made me laugh because my mom told me that I had very strong opinions when it came to naming my sister, Leslie. At one point the name “Wendy” was briefly discussed and I apparently had a fit because I wanted to be named Wendy since I loved the movie Peter Pan. In my four-year-old brain, if I couldn’t be Wendy, nobody could be Wendy.
I also think it’s interesting to ask your parents what your name would’ve been had you been born the opposite sex. I would’ve been Andrew. I like that name, so it would’ve been fine with me!
Breakfast
Breakfast this morning was another glorious two-egg sandwich served on top of a Thomas’ whole wheat English muffin with muenster cheese and raspberry jelly.
Plus a hot mug of foamy peanut buttercup coffee!

I was the last baby, so I had no say in my siblings names. I do know that if I was a boy my name would have been Neal. Not too shabby.
I was going to be Kevin if I had been a boy (Up, anyone? “Kevin’s a GIRL?!” Bahahaha). It’s really weird that my parents were going to name me that, because my parents ended up giving us all Biblical names, but I’m pretty sure there are no Kevins in the Bible haha.
This was a good topic to write about! It made me curious as to what my 3 year old niece wanted to name her on- the-way baby sister…. Barbie! My sister says other names, but she keeps saying ” no, it will be Barbie” 🙂
If I would have been a boy my name would have Jared. I thought it was so stupid when I was younger, but now I really like that name!
My “boy name” would have been Todd. If that doesn’t scream “born in the 80s,” I don’t know what does.
I have no idea what my name would have been if I had been a boy. But, if my older sister had her way, I would have been named Big Bird!

No joke, my older brother wanted to name me “Bambi Lynn”. Thank the Lord he didn’t get his way.
My brother wanted to name me Per Fluffy Mammy. We still have NO idea where he came up with that name…
I was supposed to be a boy and apparently my parents never agreed on a boy name! They had both agreed on a girl name and obviously, I was a girl! I feel like names are such a bigger deal these days with the Internet bein so prevalent! Apparent in 1985, it was normal to make it to he hospital and not have a name! Who knew!
If I had been a boy my name would have been Raymond, Jr. So glad I’m a girl!
My parents didn’t have boy names picked out, but my Dad wanted to name me Rainbow Bailey. He might have been a hippie.

My mom was actually POSITIVE that I was going to be a boy (they never got an ultrasound). So positive, that my parents actually only had boys names picked out. I was going to be Michael Owen. When I came out and was obviously NOT a boy, they frantically looked through a baby book for a name. I didn’t have a name picked out for my sister though. However, I did have a babydoll that I THOUGHT was my sister (my parents were trying to use it to explain the whole new sister thing to a 3 year old). When I finally realized it wasn’t actually my sister, I named it “Flounder with feet”. Clearly I was a Little Mermaid fan. Good thing my sister didn’t get that name!

it is funny because iw as actually supposed to be a boy until the last minute apparently they figured it out so i was going to be Andrew too. “Andrew Michael” and now I am “Andrea Michelle” haha simple. I am full blooded italian and my last name is a mouthful my dad wanted me to have a TRUE italian boys name and he wanted me to be “luigi guiseppe” could you IMAGINE? my mom of cousre wouldnt have let that happen. but i would have had to go by Gus or something haha
I have no recollection of what I wanted my little brothers to be named, although I do remember my mom considering Dylan for my youngest brother- which I like because of the original 90210- at which point she vetoed it.
I don’t know what I would have been named if I was a boy, but I do know that I was almost named Paula. When I was a kid I was was so upset that my mom went with Krysta instead of Paula, but not so much anymore.
It’ll be interesting to think what our future kids will think of their names and almost names one day!
I would have had my brother’s name if I had been born a boy! James, but I would have been the III. (It was my dad’s name.) Since I was the first girl, had Jamie been a girl he was going to be Carly Hope.

But my brother was 3 when I was born and he wanted to name me Dog Trail or Flower Honey. None of us know where he came up with the names, but they are just about the silliest names a 3 year old could come up with for his unborn sister!
Just came across this post! My sister was 3 when I was born, and SHE actually picked my name! She was livid when my parents (who thought I was going to be a boy) revealed to her that my name would be Matthew. My sister was convinced that I would be a girl, and girls canNOT be named Matthew. She absolutely insisted on the name “Ariana.” Idk where she got it, but I love my name.
