25 Minute Boot Camp Workout

February 12, 2014 by Julie 66 Comments

Hello and happy Wednesday!

How is your day going so far? Everything is just peachy over here. Lots of work, sweat and a little bit of fun, too!

Today began with work. After breakfast, I had an early morning personal training session on the books and then it was time for me to sneak in a workout of my own. It had been way too long since I last took my favorite Wednesday boot camp class and I decided to change that today!

25 Minute Boot Camp Workout

My favorite instructor taught the class and took us though 25 minutes of fast-paced exercises that included cardio, strength and plyometric movements. It was a good one!

Here’s the rundown (shared with permission):

25 Minute Boot Camp Workout

  • Hip Abduction
  • Knee Repeaters
  • Ball Slams (simply remove the “pass”)

It was super sweaty!

I think boot camp workouts that don’t repeat any of the exercises are my favorite. Once I finish one minute of burpees, I like knowing I won’t have to do them again! It’s easier for me to give each exercise my all when I know I’ll be done with it for the duration of my workout once 60 seconds is up!

Lunch

After my boot camp workout, I drove back home to let Sadie out and fix myself a quick lunch.

Today’s lunch included a salad topped with edamame, corn, salsa chicken leftover from last night’s dinner and light blue cheese dressing.

Salad with Blue Cheese and Shredded Chicken

I don’t like blue cheese but I like the Bolthouse Farms yogurt blue cheese dressing. Not sure how that works!

Blue Cheese Chicken Salad

And yes, I definitely made my salad in a mixing bowl. I hate stirring my salad in a smaller bowl because everything falls out and makes a mess and by making salads in mixing bowls, I can combat this little annoyance.

After lunch, it was back to work! Today is flyin’ by!

Question of the Afternoon

  • What is your go-to salad dressing at the moment?

I’ve been loving Annie’s Goddess dressing and the Bolthouse Farms ranch and blue cheese yogurt dressing, but I also love simple olive oil + balsamic vinegar as a salad topper!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I used to not like blue cheese either but now it is probably my favourite cheese! I think it’s an acquired taste.

I love to make my own dressing with apple cider vinegar, nutritional yeast and Dijon mustard, it has a cheesy but delicious flavour that works well on salads.

I think I love circuits that don’t repeat exercises too. Knowing when you start an exercise and its hard but that’s all you have of it is a pretty good feeling 😉

I LOVE bleu cheese dressing – especially if it has extra bleu cheese chunks in it! And I am in total agreement that the workout is much better if you only have to do each exercise once!

I wish I could say I made it on my own! But when I was visiting family in Kansas I picked it up at a local shop!! http://firsttasteoliveoil.com/store/index.php?p=catalog&parent=6&pg=1 I canNOT explain how yummy everything is (you got to taste test anything you wanted) The oil olives are also great. I did try the Espresso, Coconut white and the honey ginger!

That boot camp workout looks like fun! Might try it this evening after a few laps around the track. My go-to salad dressing right now is Olive Garden’s light Italian dressing – you can find it at Ralph’s and it tastes just like the one at their restaurants 🙂

Hey Julie – Have you ever tried the Dynamic Kettlebell workout on the NTC app? I tried it yesterday and my legs were like jello!! I can still feel the burn today I have a date with the foam roller tonight.

Judging by the workouts you share, I think you’d really like it 🙂

I totally agree about loving non-repeating boot camp exercises! Once burpees are done and out of the way, I can give a sigh of relief. I also love it when spinning instructors say that we’re on our last song. I push SO much harder!

Sounds strange, but I loveee using salsa as a salad-dressing. It has so much flavor, but is a good-for-you option. Also, a fan of the olive oil and vinegar but… let’s not lie — Idk that everyone has a Jets Pizza near them, but their ranch is amazing!

Mouth-watering! Your salad looks so incredibly delicious. Mmmm. I love salad. Honestly, I don’t understand how people can dislike veggies. I am such a veggie girl. I could eat salad at almost every meal. It’s -so-good! I have never tried edamame, but I would love to try that one day. It looks very refreshing on your salad. Also, thanks for the workout! 🙂 I’m all about quick workouts. I love that you incorporate upper body and lower body in your circuits. I’ll be trying this one soon!

One veggie I am incorporating more…? Maybe mushrooms? I used to hate them – as in I would never even TASTE them because they made me think of frogs and nastiness. Surprisingly, I really like them now. I won’t say I love them, but I enjoy adding them to my meals. Now one veggie that has been an absolute staple is broccoli. I throw it in my shakes, I eat it with my eggs, I have it with tuna salad, I have it with pasta or rice… everything. I just LOVE IT! 🙂

Thanks for the giveaway! If I win – or should I say when I win… 😉
I hope to get some chia seeds. Every health/fitness blogger seems to rave about them, and I have yet to taste one.
    God bless you!

I’ve been lovin’ a spicy ranch lately! Hidden Valley Farms has a Southwest Ranch that is tasty. I add a little water to the bottle so it’s thinner (not a LOT of water to make it watery) and it covers more salad.

I’ve been adding corn to my salads lately too. I feel like it just gives them a pop of flavor and makes it feel more like a restaurant salad for some reason. I find when I put enough good veggies on top I don’t really need or want a dressing! Hardboiled eggs smashed and avocado usually end up coating everything else!

For Mexican-style salads, I’ve been mixing 1-2 tbsp of reduced fat Ranch with a dash of Sriracha, low sodium taco seasoning and a dab of water to help mix in the seasoning. It is so awesome! I actually topped a big dish of nachos with it for the Superbowl and it was a major hit. I bet it would be good on the salad you had for lunch!

I’m not a big fan of bagged lettuce bc it’s always wilted but this is not lettuce; it’s kale, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage and chicory so it’s hearty. it even comes with dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds and poppyseed dressing.
