All Over the Place Workout

July 24, 2013 by Julie 79 Comments

This morning my workout was all over the place!

Fight Boredom Workout

It was fast-paced, sweaty and very entertaining. Since I was hopping around all over the place, I didn’t have much time to think about how hard I was working, which made the time pass quickly. I left the gym feeling energized and ready for the day. I’ve had a hard time really feeling the fire at the gym lately, so I embraced the post-workout buzz wholeheartedly this morning!

Breakfast

Breakfast this morning was a no-brainer.

overnight oats with unsweetened coconut

I prepared a batch of overnight oats after dinner last night and dug into them this morning after topping them with a sprinkling of unsweetened coconut.

unsweetened flaked coconut oatmeal

After breakfast, Ryan and I took Sadie on a 20-minute walk around our neighborhood.

We made sure to let Sadie spend some extra time with our neighbor’s dog. Their dog unfortunately isn’t doing too well and it’s heartbreaking to watch him struggle to walk down the driveway to sniff and play with Sadie. Now he just kind of stands there, but his tail wags when we approach and we bring Sadie to him so they can have their morning hello. He’s so darn adorable and I just want to cuddle him all day long. Such a sweetheart. Just a friendly reminder to give your pet a little extra love today!

vizsla

For those of you who have been reading for a while, have you noticed Sadie’s face is getting whiter? Ryan and I are in denial over any signs of aging in Sadie, so we call her little white hairs her “highlights.” She’s just lightening up her coat a little bit for summer!

Hope you guys have a good Wednesday. Hump Daaaaaay!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

If you’re having trouble feeling the burn in workouts lately, I would definitely recommend the Fitnessista’s summer shape up program! She has total-body weights workouts that involve cardio and are short and fast paced, they seem right up your alley. It also makes working out a no-brainer, because she has a whole schedule already planned out!

I really love the idea of adding unsweetened coconut to your overnight oats! Also, it is heartbreaking to see a dog struggling as they grow older. My dog, Oliver is 11 years old now and I’ve had him since my 14th birthday. He’s been through so incredibly much over the past year and I admire him for his strength and resilience. Each day, I always try to give him a little extra love, as I am so thankful for him and his ability to make my day a bit brighter!

I dog sit for several friends dogs. The dog who started my dog sitting business when I persuaded some friends to bid on him at an auction, Oreo (black lab) is 10 now & is so gray around his mouth. We’ve been through a lot together & I can’t imagine the world without him.
I am in total denial of his age. He’s the sweetest thing & thankfully still in good health, but when the day comes, I’ll be a mess.

It’s so strange how some dogs get gray in the face while others don’t. My dog is 6 years old but luckily still acts like a puppy haha. She hasn’t slowed down yet. Sadie’s grey makes her look more distinguished. 🙂

I did notice the white! I actually looked back to see if it had always been there! My GSD is now 10 months old and occasionally I will look at her and be like WHEN DID YOU GET SO BIG. I remember when she was all black as a puppy and now she has all the dark mahogany in her and looks like a super skinny adult. I also love how she is convinced she is still a 20lb puppy and will plop down on top of us in bed. The fact of the matter is she is probably 65-70lbs at this point and gets her own third of the bed!

    Julie,
I have been reading for a while now and I love your consistency for healthy eating and working out. I am trying to get back into the gym and I always struggle with staying consistent because I don’t have a set routine… and I need one! So my question to you is, what exactly is your morning routine? Do you wake right up, go to the gym, and then come home to have breakfast and check emails etc? Thanks for all of your help!

I haven’t been able to run as much as usual lately because I’m nursing a hamstring issue, so I’ve been trying new workouts that will still give me the cardio I need and breaks up the monotony of the bike, elliptical, etc, etc. Thanks for posting, I will be giving this one a try tomorrow morning!

That breaks my heart about your neighbor’s dog. I lost my precious yellow lab a few months ago, and we had watched her age catch up with her for about a year and a half. It was a heartbreaking process to watch. Even though the time had definitely come, I hate it and I miss her!

It was really nice of you to give the other dog a hello. I had to have my elderly dog put down a month ago (I still can’t talk or type about it without tearing up), and one of the highlights of his day towards the end was a neighbor’s cat that would come over into our yard to greet him. It’s the small highlights that can really make a difference at the end.

As dogs get older does their hair really start turning like our hair does when we age? I had no clue! Sadie is still a little cutie! Plus, your only as old as you feel and clearly Sadie is a very active dog in her community and I’m sure the way she feels does not reflect the white hair on her face 🙂

I came across your blog through my friend’s blog (Fit Mom Aly) and what intrigued my was the name of your blog…so I clicked on the link, and I think it was the best/worst decision ever. The best because I love getting new work out ideas and all the recipes you have posted look SO good (I tried the 3 ingredient peanut butter cookies last night…they were AMAZING! And I made the overnight oats…SO good)…this is also the worst decision because I spend most of my work day going going through your blog…who needs to do work anyway?
