Holiday Gifts for Fitness Enthusiasts

December 1, 2010 by Julie 32 Comments

You know how one dip into the peanut butter jar inevitably leads to another dip 10 more dips? Well, the same is true with almond butter (as Heather may be able to tell you).

My morning snack was supposed to be a whole-wheat tortilla topped with a spoonful of almond butter… but I got a little carried away (typical of me and nut butters…) and wasn’t too hungry by the time lunchtime rolled around.

I kept my mid-day meal on the lighter side, and enjoyed a toasted whole wheat English muffin topped with cream cheese and cranberry sauce.

Cranberry Sauce 'n' Cream Cheese FTW!

Grape tomatoes and string cheese served as sides.

The Whole Shebang

And now it’s time for some present talk! 😀

Gifts for Fitness Love-ahs!

I had such a good time compiling the list of gift ideas for my Holiday Gifts for Food-Loving Folks post last week, that I figured I would continue the series and scope out some goodies for fitness enthusiasts.

I created this list based on items I use all the time or items I am currently coveting. I hope it helps give you some holiday gift ideas for friends and family members… or at least gives you something to add to your own wish list!

  • Vera Bradley Wristlet:

Vera Bradley Wristlet

I bring this wristlet with me to the gym every day. (*Proof #1* *Proof #2*) It is just big enough for an ID, iPod and keys, and is small enough to carry around with you without being cumbersome.

  • Garmin Forerunner 305:

Run Forest, Run!

If you’re looking for a big-ticket item that will make nearly any runner happy, splurge for the Garmin Forerunner. It tracks your speed, distance, heart rate and other important information. I wear it on nearly every run (*Proof*)!  (Side note: Never pay full price for this watch. It’s always on sale somewhere. Shop around online for a good deal.)

  • Victoria’s Secret Yoga Foldover Crop Legging:

Work it Out

I own these in two different colors (*Proof*) and love them. They’re thick enough so they don’t show every lump and bump, but are thin enough to keep you cool through a workout. Plus, the thick waistband is slimming for those of you who have some junk in the trunk like me. 😉

  • Tervis Tumbler:

I'll Tumble for You

If you read my blog with regularity, you know I am a huge fan of these cups. (*Proof*) You may find them at Bed, Bath and Beyond and can purchase different lids and straws for with them. Though I don’t take mine to the gym with me (I prefer a regular water bottle), I fill up the 24-ounce cup several times a day at work and it keeps my water cold, prevents condensation and encourages me to stay hydrated throughout the day.

  • Yoga Mat Bag by CrzyBagLady from Etsy.com:

Yoga Mat Bag

I don’t own this particular bag, but a bag this cute makes me want to really get into yoga… or just carry around my yoga mat to look cute.

  • Massage Gift Certificate:

Rub Me, Rub Me, Say that You Rub Me

The best post-workout reward is a massage! Plus, who doesn’t love a massage?

  • Race Distance Car Magnet:

I Run Half Marathons!

After spending months training for distance races, many runners enjoy putting a magnet of honor on their car to display their accomplishment to the world and show everyone how bad-ass (or crazy) they are. (If you buy this for someone, please make sure to purchase a magnet decal, not a sticker. Stickers are a pain in the tookus to take off.)

Oooh, those crop pants are so cute! Have you tried working out in them? I love the purple fold-over top. And the Garmin is quite possibly the best gift to give a fitness enthusiast. It is definitely my favorite workout accessory. I love gift-giving season! 🙂

LOVE those VS pants!!! I really like the little Vera Bradley bag idea too. That’s perfect. I’ve never thought of that before.

My main wish list items are TurboFire and Insanity DVDs. They are literally all I want for Christmas.

Hope you get your special treat today!

The VS yoga pants are so comfortable! I used to have a pair of them, but somehow I lost them (my theory is my sister is hiding them). They are great to wear anytime, gym or not!

Ooooo cute leggings!! Love them! I always thought you were wearing LuLu Lemon leggings. Have you tried those? I own a few pairs and is it just me or do they fit weird for girls that got a bootay? I have hips and a butt and I feel like they make me look bigger than I am?! I’ll have to invest in the VS leggings – or ask them for a Xmas gift 😉

Someone told me once that they always want to run into the back of cars that have the 26.2 on the back. That just makes me want to get one. 🙂 It’s an awesome gift idea!
