Today began with a strength workout from Tina’s Best Body Boot Camp plan that, yet again, incorporated five minute spurts of cardio in between supersets.
Though I stuck to the treadmill for most of the cardio, I did the mini five minute circuit from yesterday’s Beat Boredom Interval Workout as one of the quick cardio pick-me-ups and was quite humbled. That little circuit kills me!
Sexy Beast?
When Ryan and I arrive home from the gym every morning, we like to ambush Sadie. She’s typically sprawled out on our bed in her sleepy morning glory, and we love running into the bedroom and watching her continue to lay there, but with her tail rapidly beating against the bed sheets.
Ryan headed into the bedroom ahead of me today calling out, “Hey there sexy beast!”
Um, what? Sexy beast?
“What did you just call her?” I asked.
“Sadie beast.”
I laughed, explaining that I thought he called our dog a sexy beast. Admittedly, we’re a little obsessed with Sadie, but I think referring to your dog as a sexy beast is a line even we aren’t willing to cross.
Although, if we polled the male dogs from the Baldwin Park dog park, I think we would find that we do, in fact, have a sexy beast on our hands.
Breakfast
Breakfast this morning began with a hot mug of coffee.
My main meal included scrambled eggs made with a splash of milk, shredded cheese, onion, leftover roasted cauliflower and avocado.
Avocado made this bowl of basic scrambled eggs feel extra special.
Question of the Morning
- Do you have any unusual nicknames for your pet?
Sadie has a million nicknames, though Sexy Beast is not one of them. Off the top of my head, we call her Pooper, Poops, Sadie Baby, Princess, Wiggle Worm, Sadie Girl, Sades, Crazy Lady, Love Machine… the list goes on and on.
Hailey says
I just don’t think the list ends with dog nicknames 🙂 We have two little pups, Banner and Parker and new names pop up every day. Our favorites are schmoopy (referring to either dog) and because our youngest is only 3 pounds we call him nugget. He actually answers to nugget more consistently than Parker.
Nicole says
Handome, Michael Phelps, Mr. Big, Monkey…
Nicole says
Oops – Handsome
Kari says
Okay, I bust up laughing every time you post pictures of Sadie with those hilarious captions. Oh wow, totally makes my day ha!
Lauren B. says
I laughed out loud at the captions on the pics of Sadie! So funny. We don’t have a dog (yet), but I have already been calling my soon-to-be-born son (10 days!!!) Booger Bear. Don’t ask me why I chose that as my term of endearment!
Elaine says
I have a dog named Sadie too and we usually call her Sadie Baby 🙂 I might have to steal Sadie Beast though…that’s a cute one!
Lindsay says
Our cat Lulu, I call her goof all the time. I have no clue why. We sure do some crazy things when it comes to our pets, makes me wonder what I’ll be like when I have kids!!!
Becci L says
My dog has lots of things we call her! Her name is Pali (pronounced like Polly). I call her Pol, Pols, Pol-ip, Mutt, Puppy-Mutt, Princess, ‘Cess (short for Princess), Princess Pali, Pali-Mutt, and Pup. She usually responds to all of them!
Claire says
So glad I’m not the only one with bizarre dog nicknames. I call mine ‘Pooh Face’, obviously as a term of endearment.
The one that’s caught on the most is Brady Lady. Most people think she’s a he so we try to emphasize her girl-ness with pink accessories and a cute nickname.
Kyra says
We have a Treeing Walker Coonhound. Often, we refer to her as just “hound dog”. Her real name is Abbey. But, somehow, her nickname has become “Bubbles”. And she knows it very well!

My dogs name is Bailey. I of course refer to her as my daughter. Names that we call her are: Bay, Bailey Anne, Mommas, Lil’ girl, Crazy Eyes, Pretty Girl, and that’s all I can think of. : )
Melissa says
I have a chocolate lab named Lana, who eventually we started calling Lana-bug, or Buglet, now we just refer to her as “The Bug.” She is a complete mess and the most energetic dog I have ever encountered, but we still love her to pieces!!
Keri @ Blue-Eyed Runner says
OMG I have so many nicknames for my beloved dog, Cooper- Cooper-Scooper, Cooper-man, Little Deuc Coop…its pathetic, really! haha
kaylie says
I call my cat “puppy”. I know it’s ironic- but my cat really is just like a dog. He drinks out of the toliet, likes my face, & even carries around a nerf gun dart in his mouth and begs my family to play fetch w/ him! 🙂
Allison @ Running Through Red Lights says
My husband is always giving me a hard time about the nicknames I have for our two cats–Bert and Chow. Somehow, we started calling the two of them Skudgy Cats–we have no clue what it means or where it came from, but that’s just what they are now! They also have their own nicknames, but we have some many of them I won’t bother to list them!
Brittany says
My dogs nickname is “Tootie” because she.. well yeah.
May I ask what you put in your coffee? Yours looks the way I like mine but I always feel guilty adding things to it, and I can’t drink it black.
Lisa @ Jogging on Coffee says
My cat’s name is Amadeus but I usually call him bubby or dude.
Annie says
We sometimes call our dog Bruno “Magic Bruno,” because when he gets excited – and I mean CRAZY excited – his *ahem* “little Bruno” makes an appearance.
In all other G-rated moments, I tend to call him names of foods I really like i.e. pizza, donut, ice cream sandwich, bagel, watermelon quinoa salad, etc.
Karlee says
we call my dog olive-moose, moose pie?,and olive sue ?!
Katie G says
My dog’s name is Moose, but his full name is “Mooselini Sweatpants.” So I often just call him by “Pants.” He answers to it 🙂

Our dogs have a few nicknames.

Spike – Spikers and Spikey
Nelly – Smelly Nelly
Bethany @ Accidental Intentions says
I honestly don’t remember the last time I called my dog by his real name, unless he was in trouble or I was trying to encourage him (like when we go for walks and go past houses with other dogs and he gets all scared because he’s a pansy outside of our property haha). I pretty much stick to “best fwend,” “bestest fwend in da whole wide wo-wold,” and, my personal favorite, “cwittewy faysh.” I also apparently turn into a four year old with a speech impediment when I talk to my dog haha.
Katie says
I often call my cat Butternut squash. He is a fat orange fur ball named Buster.
Erica @ For the Sake of Cake says
Oh my goodness… my husband & I have SO many nicknames for our pug, Stewie… pookie, pooker boy, Stewbot, Stew, pug-a-lug, Bot, the list goes on & ON!

I truly laughed out loud when I saw the captions with Sadie’s pictures today.
Our Yorkiepoo Sadie gets Sadielicious a lot, and Lovergirl since she gives so many kisses.
Penny the little minpin gets so excited when I come home she looks like she will fall over from wiggling so much, always gets called” Little Miss Wigglesworth”. hahaha…a whole big title for a little 5 pound pooch.
@pluvk says
The captions on the Sadie photos made my day! Too funny!
Our little guy has so many nicknames, I’m surprised he actually knows his name! His name is Liko, but we also call him Little One, Fatty, Leeks… at my parents house he’s known as Old Man, Small Fry… so many names! My favorite one is HEY. For some reason, when I need him to come, he responds more to HEY than his name. 🙂
SarahB says
Our dog Nelley (who isn’t a Viszela but looks quite similar to Sadie) is often referred to as “The Nelley Monster” or “the monster” for short. I figure if we have kids one day we are going to have to explain to people why they think we have a monster at home, and one that we love dearly!!
Amanda says
Sadie is one sexy beast!
Our dogs, Jackson and Henry, have tons of nicknames.
Jackson – Jake, Jakeson, Sneaky, Sneakers, Zeke, big guy, buddy
Henry – Hank, little hen, Hennie, Henners, little man
My fiance’s parents actually just got a dog and named him Zeke and we were kindof ticked off because we can’t use it as a nickname anymore haha
Brooklyn says

First of all, the quotes you put on Sadie’s pictures always make me laugh out loud…I could really see her saying these things!
My dog’s name is Isabella and we call her Bella for short. I call her “stinky dog”, “stinky winky”, “poopers”, “wooger butt”, “boogies”, and probably some other random names I can’t think of because they just come out and I don’t remember saying them. I really have no idea where those nicknames come from either!
Courtney says
Sometimes I’m amazed at the nicknames that come out of my mouth when I’m talking to my dog, Gizmo. I don’t even realize what I’m saying. The ones I use most often are Bean (because she looks like a kidney bean when she curls up), Monkey, Weirdo, Silly girl, and Doofus. Unfortunately I’ve gotten into the habit of calling her Nut too. I’m trying to break myself of that one, because it sounds really inappropriate to say “Hey, my little Nut!”
Rachel says
I have a dog named Molly. And her nickname is Molly Wolly Doodle. Because I am cleary 4 years old.
Julianna @ Julianna Bananna says
