Things I’m Loving Friday XXVIII

April 11, 2014 by Julie 111 Comments

It’s Friday and the only thing on my mind today is my girls’ weekend in Sarasota!

The fun kicks off around 10 p.m. tonight when I pick up my friends in Tampa and I can’t wait! It’s safe to say that the anticipation of seeing my girlfriends is the thing I’m loving most this Friday, but here are a few other highlights…

Things I’m Loving Friday

  • Sally Hansen Manicure Corrector Pen

Sally Hansen Manicure Pen

Why have I never used a pen like this before!? After painting my nails last night, I used this pen to remove the excess polish that inevitably ended up on my finger rather than on my nail. It was precise and effective and I wish I would’ve discovered this years ago.

  • SeamusObrien + BiddytheHedgeHog Instagram Accounts

Biddy the Hedgehog

I don’t know how I stumbled upon SeamusObrien’s Instagram account, but the pictures featured on this account are incredible. Such gorgeous photography, creative angles and many adorable animal pictures! SeamusObrien’s account linked to the BiddytheHedgehog account one day which is also worth mentioning because it is so ridiculously cute. Check out this video and try not to smile!

  • Evening Ice Cream

Graeter's Mint Chocolate Chip

Publix Birthday Cake Ice Cream

Truth be told, Ryan and I try not to keep ice cream in the house very often because neither of us have an “off” switch when it comes to eating the sweet and creamy dessert. Well, earlier this week we were in charge of bringing dessert to game night at a friend’s house and ended up leaving with some leftover ice cream. Every night since, Ryan and I have sat down to a bowl of ice cream after dinner. Two flavors we’ve been loving lately: Publix’s It’s Your Birthday Cake and Graeter’s Mint Chocolate Chip. (<—Lots of thick, huge chocolate chips in that one!)

  • Your Book Recommendations

Me Before You Jojo

I finished reading After Her last night and thanks to your book recommendations on my Wednesday morning post, I have a short list of books to pick up at the library this afternoon! Books on my radar: Me Before You, Dark Places, The Bride Will Keep Her Name and Sharp Objects

  • T-Strap Sandals

Anthropologie Sandals

A couple of weeks ago I fell in love with these sandals from Anthropologie, but I felt like there must be a cheaper version out there somewhere. I pictured them with cuffed skinny jeans and a casual white v-neck tee or a flowy white top and thought they’d be an adorable summer staple. Thanks to my friend Merri who told me to search for “t-strap sandals” online (I didn’t know what to call them!), I found these sandals from American Eagle for a more reasonable $30. They’re now on my birthday wish list!

I need one of those corrector pens!! I always end up with a lot of nail polish on my skin and chip away at it forever. Did you pick it up locally or order online?

I actually got it from my grandma’s house a little while ago when we went to help her clean out her things but just never used it until now! I would imagine they have them at most drug stores, like Walgreens or CVS, but I also saw it on Amazon!

I loved both Dark Places and Sharp Objects but not as much as Gone Girl. Have you ever read any Joanne Harris books? She wrote Chocolat the movie that had Johnie Depp, they are more of a literature style of books but a nice change of pace sometimes.

I’m like you and can’t have sweet stuff in the house although chocolate is more my weakness than ice cream!

Enjoy your girls weekend! Off to check out that hedgehog account right now it looks up there with the TunaMeltsMyHeart account

I must find that pen!! Although I don’t have steady hands, so I could see myself somehow erasing some polish on the nail as well haha. and yum!! Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream is the best with huge chunks of chocolate chip. Omg, that hedgehog is the cutest.. I just want to hug it 🙂

I have yet to put on a pair of sandals this year, but the weather forecast for the weekend is definitely getting me into that mindset. Summer clothes and shoes are my favorite! Lately I have been loving my Ogio triathlon bag and I really don’t know how I would live without it. It makes training for a variety of sports and remembering all the “things” I need that much easier.

      Julie,

I read Me Before You and really liked it, I would definitely recommend. If you’re interested in Jojo Moyes’ books I might suggest The Girl You Left Behind, which is about a painting that is stolen during WWI. Me Before You is good, but very depressing. The Girl You Left Behind is similarly sad, but ultimately more uplifting.

I posted a review for it on my website which you can fine here: http://bit.ly/1iBrG4z
You can also find other book reviews and recommendations there 🙂

Sharp Objects was great but a bit disturbing. Dark Places was really interesting, and even worth re-reading (when you know the ending, you pick up more in the story).

Never Coming Home is similar to Gone Girl and an entertaining and quick read, but not as quite as good.
