Things I’m Loving Friday XXVII

April 4, 2014 by Julie 79 Comments

Hooray for Friday!

I am spending all day today and tomorrow helping with set up for the Taste of Ocala event on Saturday night which should be a blast! It’s an event I’ve helped plan every year since we move here and I’m thrilled to see everything come to fruition tomorrow evening. (My stomach is also quite excited!)

While I’m sure the Taste of Ocala will be the highlight of my weekend, here are a few other things that helped make my week a little better…

Things I’m Loving Friday

  • House of Cards

House of Cards

Ryan and I are officially all caught up with House of Cards. We flew through the first two seasons of the show and are now anxiously awaiting the third season. Talk about one heck of an addicting show! Ryan and I loved watching it together and had fun discussing which characters we actually thought might turn out to be decent people. (Um, none of them?)

Oh! And since we’re talking TV right now, as a follow up to Game of Thrones… I wasn’t a fan. I gave it a few episodes, but it wasn’t my thing.

  • Clean & Clear Night Relaxing All-in-One Cleansing Wipes

Clean and Clear Makeup Removal Wipes

Some nights before bed I find myself feeling waaay too lazy to wash my face. Many days I don’t wear any face makeup at all since I work at a gym, so I will often use that as an excuse to skip washing my face in favor of using these fabulous cleansing wipes. They are incredibly gentle and wipe away daily build up, including dirt, oil and makeup. The scent of the wipes is also quite soothing which is probably why they claim to be “relaxing” wipes. The lazy girl living inside of me absolutely loves them and I think they’ll be even more useful in the summertime when sweating like crazy is an hourly occurrence in Florida.

  • “Shark in the Water” by The Cocktails

Oh this song! I love it! You guys know I adore a cappella music and apparently Pandora has picked up on this as well because this song pops up for me to listen to all the time. Whenever it starts playing, I find myself turning it up and smiling like a total goofball. It’s upbeat and incredibly catchy and the women who belt this song out together can seriously sing!

  • Beach Tote

Anthropologie Beach Tote

Next weekend three of my best girlfriends are flying to Florida for our own little spring break! I’m really looking forward to a relaxing weekend in Siesta Key and since I’m not traveling as far as my girlfriends, I’m trying to come up with a list of things I can pack in my car for everyone to use to make traveling easier. One thing on my list? Beach bags! I have one beach bag I bought from Target years ago, but it’s on its last leg. As I began searching online, I saw so many adorable options! My favorites are cute totes that can also be used as beach bags: Anthropologie Rancho tote (<— Love the lining, too!), Target colorful striped tote (I also like the ivory option),  Banana Republic Riley tote (in khaki) and the super splurge Tory Burch Kerrington striped tote.

  • Easy Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Easy Buffalo Chicken Sandwich

Buffalo chicken sandwiches were the highlight of last night’s dinner. This recipe officially needs to come back into our regular meal rotation. I forgot just how simple this crock pot meal is to make and it’s so darn tasty!

  • Sadie’s Post Playtime Bliss

Happy Vizsla

Whenever we come back inside from backyard playtime with Sadie, she follows us around with a big goofy smile on her face. (Yes, I think she smiles.) She seems to be on a “playtime high” and Ryan and I always laugh at her adorable dopey grin and wagging tail. Once she finally plopped on our bed after Frisbee playtime last night, I snapped the above picture of her to try to capture her sweet, happy face. I love that little lady so darn much.

  • Volunteer Match

Love the picture of Sadie!! She’s such a ham! I already love your style and read your blog daily, so I had an inkling that you would not love Game of Thrones…thanks for confirming my suspicious. My respect and adoration of you only increased after seeing that 😉

It makes me so happy that you love a cappella so much. 🙂 If you like the Cocktails, you should check out the UNC Loreleis – I graduated from the group last year so alas, my glory days are over, but the group just put out a new album with some fabulous stuff (it’s free to stream on Spotify, too!): https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/burn/id840488508

“Figure 8,” “Too Close” and “DNA” are all on my workout playlists now… and “Give Me Love” is my current favorite cooldown song.

LOVE the face wipes! I usually use the Pond’s “Evening Soothe” wipes, but they just make life so much easier sometimes. A tip to make them last longer (and to keep them from drying out)–cut the wipes in half and store then in a ziploc bag! A friend recommended that to me and it changed my life.

      Have a great weekend!

I saw those Clean & Clear wipes at the store today. I almost picked them up, but I wasn’t sure if I would like them. I think I may pick them up next time I’m out that way. Thanks for the review! 🙂

Aww, my best friend was a member of The Cocktails when we were in college. This prompted me to go listen to this track and hear her voice. She lives abroad now so it was nice to hear her sing when it’s so hard for us to talk regularly now! Thanks for this 🙂

I really enjoy these posts–they give me ideas for new things to try! I keep hearing about House of Cards so it might be time to check it out for myself. Thanks for the tip!

I really must try getting back into House of Cards. I feel like the only one who just can’t get into it. But the way you make it sound… I want to feel that same way about it!

The look on Sadie’s face is one of pure happiness. You can tell in every picture of her that she loves you guys and is as happy to be yours as you are to have her. It makes me smile every time 🙂 She’s a lucky dog.

I think you should get the striped tote/beach bag from Target. It’s adorable. I recently started my own fitness blog and it would mean the world to me if you would check it out and let me know what you think!

I bought those clean n clear wipes you mentioned in this post at Target today (along with 3489384 other things, some that I probably didn’t need…) and I already see why you like them so much. I love the soothing feeling, smell, and so far they don’t seem to bother my skin…it’s hard for me sometimes to find face wipes that don’t make my face break out. I as well am a closet lazy girl and like to skip washing my face when I can…thanks for sharing these with us 🙂

The crockpot is one of the best kitchen equipments anyone can have! I love how I can make a huge amount of food and have leftovers for days, or just freeze them. And your trip with your girlfriends sounds wonderful Julie!

I love when the pups are so exhausted and sleepy…and all they wanna do is cuddle! I can’t wait for the new season of House of Cards but have a feeling we’ll be waiting quite a while.
