Bachelor Workout

February 26, 2014 by Julie 65 Comments

Today’s extra-long lunch break took me home!

Before digging into my midday meal, I completed an at-home workout while I watched The Bachelor online. Yes, I was 100 percent motivated to work out at home so I could watch the “most dramatic episode ever.”

IMG_1056

I am loosely keeping up with this season by checking out episodes here and there online, but since I’m streaming them a day late, I am skipping over a lot. And yet I’m seeing enough to feel less than enamored with Juan Pablo.

SPOILER ALERT: Andi is the jam. What she said about Juan Pablo not asking her any questions about herself is a red flag. When I was in high school, my friend Leah once said you can tell a lot about a person by how much they ask you about you rather than chattering on and on about themselves. It’s something I still notice about people to this day!

While I caught up on The Bachelor, I completed an at home workout that focused on strength training and included jumping jacks to keep my heart rate up.

Sadie watched from the couch which was a dramatic improvement from most of my at-home workouts since she usually prefers to try to get in on the action.

sad vizsla

Today she made it her mission to guilt trip me with her sad puppy eyes from her blanket fort on the couch.

Lunch

Once my workout was finished, I jumped in the shower and then fixed myself lunch. I made a batch of the chickpea salad I shared on the blog last week, but added some shredded chicken to the fresh veggies for a punch of protein.

Chickpea Chicken Salad

Now it’s back to work!

P.S. My fellow ice cream fanatics: Have you seen the new Ben & Jerry’s ‘Core’ ice cream flavors? I want in on all of them! (Thanks to Merri for the head’s up on this one!)

Agreed, I’m kind of over this season already! You could design a whole span of Bachelor-inspired workouts. Ten pushups every time Juan Pablo says “It’s okay”? Andi would be super annoyed… and super buff.

I completely agree with you about the red flag! My parents always tell me to have high E.I. (emotional intelligence). I guess it means to always ask others about themselves instead of just talking about yourself. Says a lot about the person:)

I am a Bachelor addict, but I’ve been watching them online too since I live in Spain right now. Anyways, I was SOOOO excited for the first Latino Bachelor because I LOVE everything about the spanish language. I thought Juan Pablo was the best in the beginning of the season, but I’m not a fan of him anymore. It was really since him and Clare were in the ocean together that I lost respect for him. I do think though that sometimes he comes off as harsh because of the language barrier, which I understand. I teach english in Spain and spanish is just a more aggressive language and a language barrier is always tough. However, there is a line between being aggressive and being rude and I think he crosses it! Lol can’t believe I am leaving such a long comment haha

I also like Nikki – she’s very real and seems genuine.

I’m not crazy about this season of the Bachelor. Am I the only one who finds Juan Pablo incredibly dull? Also, another thing I noticed is whenever he’s talking about what he likes about the women he ALWAYS emphasizes that they’re “beautiful” or “attractive” and their other qualities are mentioned as a side note.

I thought Juan Pablo came across as a skeezeball on the first episode! Turns out I was right – I haven’t watched much of it since, but I’ve heard about it. All of those girls deserve better and I think ABC needs to find a bachelor who shows America how women deserve to be treated and has morals.

Those ice cream flavors definitely have me wishing I wasn’t lactose intolerant…BAHHHH!!! And while I’ve been watching the bachelor this season, I’m usually work on my computer or doing something else while watching and apparently totally missed some key elements. Juan Pablo definitely hasn’t been my favorite bachelor but I totally missed some of those things. I did think Andi went a bit long and almost like she was hoping he would be like “please don’t leave…” or something.

I definitely agree about Juan Pablo– for me one of the first major red flags was the way he handled what happened with Clare. He took no responsibility at all, which seemed just ridiculous. And now all this with Andi?

I will say that her reaction seemed like a huge flip for one night… I would think that she would sense some of those problems way before that point. Like you said– it’s something you notice when you meet someone. It made me wonder if the producers struck some sort of a deal with her. Like, stay until after the overnights and we’ll give you the next season, or something. But I could be totally off. 🙂

Boy, is that true! There’s always something OFF about a person not asking questions about the other party. I don’t always mind that, but when I see that happening in conversations between people, it just seems so wrong~
And home workouts is where it’s at! Haha, I say that because I do 95% of my workouts at home since I have an 8 month old. But still, I’ve always loved exercising at home! In some ways I feel like it makes one mentally stronger because you become your own motivator.
