From Ocala to Boston

November 15, 2012 by Julie 43 Comments

Hello from Boston!

After a two-hour drive from Ocala to the Jacksonville airport this morning, I caught a flight to Washington, DC where I had a quick 30-minute layover before boarding my final flight of the day to Boston. It has been a day full of travel, but I really don’t mind traveling and I absolutely love visiting new places, so I’m a happy little camper.

I’m in town for an all-day Reebok event organized by Reebok and FitFluential. Our day at the Reebok headquarters tomorrow includes a CrossFit workout and interaction with the people behind the brand. Then, after the Reebok event, I’m heading to Mohegan Sun in Connecticut for a girls’ weekend with some of my favorite blog buddies! Friday will be full of fitness while the weekend will be full of shenanigans. A perfect balance!

Lunch

My travel was fueled by a grab-n-go lunch at Starbucks.

I bought a chicken sandwich topped with a kalamata olive and feta cheese spread and fresh basil and ate it as I waited in line to board the plane. It was decent, but nothing to write home about since the bread was a bit stale.

I also bought a grande non-fat vanilla latte that I sipped at the gate.

Oh heeey dark nails! IMG_0564

A couple of weeks ago, I bought a new bottle of nail polish thinking that the color was a deep purple that would be fun for fall, but after two coats, I think it’s safe to say the color is a lot closer to black.

Apparently I like to rock dark and dull nails this time of year. Over Thanksgiving last year, I painted my nails what I thought was a purple/gray color, but according to the men at Ryan’s family’s Thanksgiving bunch, my nails looked like I had been “digging around in a pile of dirt.”

Clearly they thought the color was absolutely stunning. Winking smile

I’m off to dig through my suitcase to find something warm to wear for dinner with a few of my fellow FitFluential folks. See ya in the morning!

Aww, Mohegan Sun…I used to work there in the Room Service 4 months during my student exchange in the USA. The place is amazing! Definitelly check out the Spa and the pool, go to Tuscany, the Shops, the bar on the 33rd floor and of course order a Room Service. 🙂

You gotta love the things men say! I recently got my hair cut a little “too” short. When I came home, my husband said…”So, do YOU like it?” I guess he was hoping I would say no and then he wouldn’t feel so bad for not liking it either. Ha!

That is hilarious! I just dyed my hair about 27 shades darker than my normal blonde, and my husband DIDN’T EVEN NOTICE!! I swear, it is always one or the other 🙂

Julie – I actually love that color on your nails! And your hair is looking fabulous as well!

HAHAHAH I have the same problem with my boyfriend! He either a) doesn’t notice at all (and my hair is a COMPLETELY different color) or b) would say something like “So, you really changed it up huh?” Gotta love ’em lol

I have black on my nails right now and am always asked why I don’t choose a more “vibrant” hue. It’s fall. The darker the better 😛

Mmm…I love the vanilla lattes, but I usually get ’em “skinny” since I don’t mind the taste of sugar free vanilla syrup. 🙂 Have a fun trip! It’s a good excuse to wear a bunch of your cute cold weather clothes that (unfortunately for me anyway) have no place in the South.

I actually really like black nail polish, as long as it’s got a glossy top coat. It looks professional and trendy at the same time 🙂

I actually do really like dark nail polish! I went through a period of time where I literally had black fingernails and toes for months at a time. And I’m the preppiest person I know. You have me inspired to go paint my nails, now 🙂
Have fun in Boston! It’s such a great city! (I might be biased…)

Hahahaha I think it’s best to not ask men what they think of your nail color, especially if it isn’t pink or red. I love dark nails during the winter! I also have a shale/light purplish color that I love right now!

I’ve never tried any of the food from Starbucks because the pre-packaged sandwiches always wig me out. Apparently the Panini’s that they can grill for you are good though!

I picked up a really dark purple Essie color the other day that looked great in the bottle. I painted 1 nail then shopped around. By the time it was dry, it was ugly. I like dark colors though. Especially in the winter. Have fun at the Reebok event! I look forward to recaps!

Long time reader, first time commenting – I’m totally with you on the nail polish. My judgement is ALWAYS off – most recently I got a color I thought was pink but it turned out to be coral!

I really like your dark nails, even though I tend to gravitate towards lighter colors myself. My favorite color is white! Haha. Your bracelets are cute…they remind me of the “power beads” that were popular back in the late 90s. 🙂 I love stacking bracelets!
