Good Morning Songs

May 29, 2012 by Julie 77 Comments

Good morning to you,

Good morning to you,

We’re all in our places

With bright, shiny faces,

Good morning to you

Please tell me at least one of you has heard that classic children’s song before? My mom used to sing it to me and my sister when we were little and I was shocked when Ryan sang it to me one morning out of nowhere.

“You know that song!?”

We also both grew up singing the morning song that goes, “Wake up, wake up you sleepy head, get up, get up get out of bed.”

I guess it isn’t really a shocker that we have morning songs in this household since we have songs for rainy days. (I should sing the rainy day song today! It’s still raining like crazy in Ocala.) May our future children be blessed with the gift of a singing voice that actually sounds lovely so the future Fagans can sing without sounding like they’re dying.

Workout

The thunderstorms outside didn’t keep the people at our gym away. It was packed this morning!

I began my workout with 20 minutes on the elliptical before doing another LiveFit workout that targeted my back and biceps.

Since I’m not following the LiveFit program exactly (I’m not following the meal plan and am using the workouts simply as a guideline), I added some jump roping in the mix and my workout ended up looking like this:

back and bicep workout

(For video demonstrations of the above exercises, click here.)

Breakfast

Once we were back home, it was time for food.

protein pancakes pumpkin

I made myself a batch of pumpkin protein pancakes.

Topped with syrup for some sweetness!

And now it’s time to play catch up after the long holiday weekend. Hope your weekend was full of fun!

Question of the Morning

  • Do you remember any silly songs from your childhood? Any favorites?

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

We always used to sing “it’s raining, it’s pouring, the old man is snoring. He went to bed, bumped his head, and didn’t get up until the morning.”

I sang it to my five year old the other day and he thought it was so funny and made me sing it 50 times.

There’s a really pretty park by me that goes along the river. My absolute favorite time to go there is when it’s raining. The colors are brighter, it smells different, it almost feels like a whole different place in the rain.

Since I grew up in Montreal there were lots of french songs when I was little.

Hehe this one made me giggle because as a kid, my sister and I would always try to get my mum to STOP singing in the morning! It wasn’t any particular song – she’d just make up the words as she went which was kind of hilarious, but as a kiddie all I wanted was to go back to bed (well that, and Pop Tarts!)

I went to a summer camp in central florida (also went to camps in NC and Martha’s Vineyard) and they taught us all of these crazy good morning songs to wake us up. So funny! One was like, “I’m alive, awake, alert, enthusiastic” repeated 10 times or something outrageous.

Could definitely go for a stack of pumpkin pancakes, yum!

My Grandma was British and she had two songs she used to sing to us… one was Cindy Pindy Puddin’ Pie, kissed the boys and made them cry…
And the other one was a creepy one that ended up in her chopping us up for firewood.
As we got older, we realized they were actually awful songs to sing to kids! But she was so sweet and sang them with love so it was ok…kinda..?

as far as children songs, I have the following from my childhood.

Pease porridge hot, pease porridge cold,
    Pease porridge in the pot, nine days old;
Some like it hot, some like it cold,
Some like it in the pot, nine days old.
