Off to LA

August 6, 2013 by Julie 141 Comments

Hello, hello!

I’m back after a busy Monday! I spent the day in Orlando going through a “Healthy Living Principles” training which serves as a precursor for the LiveStrong adult cancer survivor group training that three of my coworkers and I will be going through in the coming month. My mom actually participated in the program following her breast cancer diagnosis, so I jumped at the opportunity to be a part of it. I’ll be sure to share more as the training continues!

Today

Today will also be a busy day, but it’s a different kind of busy since it’s all travel related. As soon as I am done publishing this post, I’ll be driving two hours to the airport to catch a flight to Los Angeles for the IDEA World Fitness Convention. To say I am excited would be a serious understatement. I’ve heard the most amazing things about this convention and since it’s in LA, I just know I’ll see at least 20 celebrities. Right!?

On Friday I will be flying directly from LA to Colorado for Michaela and Kyle’s wedding! Michaela is the most laidback bride in the whole world and said she doesn’t care what shoes we wear with our bridesmaid dresses as long as they’re nude. I currently have three pairs packed in my suitcase because I can’t make up my mind!

J.Crew Bridesmaid dress mint green

Any suggestions? I think I am leaning toward the snazzy shoes in the middle.

Nude Bridesmaid Shoes Ann Taylor Nude Shoes with Flowers

I think they’re so fun and I’ve never worn them before. They were my sister’s shoes and she didn’t want them anymore, so I scooped them up!

Workout

Today’s workout started a little too early for comfort. I feel like my body will crash hard tonight!

Ryan and I headed to the gym at 5 a.m. for a workout. My workout included 25 minutes of cardio that I split between the treadmill and the elliptical. I also did an upper body strength workout which felt great! I have always loved training my shoulders, so any workout that includes shoulder exercises is always a good one in my book.

Breakfast

Once we made it home from the gym, it was time for breakfast.

almond butter english muffin

I toasted a whole wheat English muffin and topped it with crunchy Barney Butter almond butter and a drizzle of honey.

english muffin with barney butter

On the side I had a small bowl of scrambled eggs for some added protein.

Time to hit the road!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I think I prefer the ones on the left but I’m a big believer in shoes without straps over / around the ankle as I’m not the tallest and not having that ankle strap makes you look taller. The prettiest ones are the ones in the middle though 🙂

Definitely go with the middle pair (so fun!) or the ones on the right, the plain pumps seem too everyday casual for a wedding. Hope you have fun in LA!!!!

Peanut butter and honey sandwiches remind me of school lunches growing up. Too bad they ban peanut butter in most schools. I still love to eat them with vegetable soup. Yum!

Yep! And she doesn’t care what jewelry we wear either! If you’re on the fence about the bridesmaid’s hair, I would let them choose! It really is nice to be able to wear your hair in a way that makes you feel comfortable. I didn’t care how the bridesmaid’s wore their hair for our wedding and I think they liked the flexibility! Some prefer their hair up while others feel more comfortable with it down, so I think options are always appreciated!

Boy all 3 pairs of shoes look cute with that dress. I do think it’s a great opportunity to break in those fun middle ones. I love the poofs of white on them – really cute!

I like having the bridesmaids pick their style of dress. So often you see one girl who is really not able to wear the picked style well and I always feel bad for her. But by picking a color and letting the girls find something flattering to them, it helps make the day more enjoyable for everyone. 🙂

I did the same thing for my bridesmaids-any shoe as long as it is nude. Definitely makes it easier on the girls to pick the style of shoe they are most comfortable wearing. I like the fun pair in the middle or the strappy pair on the right the best! 🙂

Have fun in LA! I’m a bit jealous of your trip. I’m from LA and haven’t been in a year and a half. I miss my family terribly! Just so expensive to fly my whole family. I don’t know why the military moved us allllll the way across the country (charleston, sc). Nevertheless, enjoy the beautiful weather!

We are having some hot weather here in CO lately (nothing compared to what you have in FL though!), so I think the open-toed shoes would be best. The middle ones seem to take the cake, and I agree!
