Off to LA

August 6, 2013 by Julie 141 Comments

Hello, hello!

I’m back after a busy Monday! I spent the day in Orlando going through a “Healthy Living Principles” training which serves as a precursor for the LiveStrong adult cancer survivor group training that three of my coworkers and I will be going through in the coming month. My mom actually participated in the program following her breast cancer diagnosis, so I jumped at the opportunity to be a part of it. I’ll be sure to share more as the training continues!

Today

Today will also be a busy day, but it’s a different kind of busy since it’s all travel related. As soon as I am done publishing this post, I’ll be driving two hours to the airport to catch a flight to Los Angeles for the IDEA World Fitness Convention. To say I am excited would be a serious understatement. I’ve heard the most amazing things about this convention and since it’s in LA, I just know I’ll see at least 20 celebrities. Right!?

On Friday I will be flying directly from LA to Colorado for Michaela and Kyle’s wedding! Michaela is the most laidback bride in the whole world and said she doesn’t care what shoes we wear with our bridesmaid dresses as long as they’re nude. I currently have three pairs packed in my suitcase because I can’t make up my mind!

J.Crew Bridesmaid dress mint green

Any suggestions? I think I am leaning toward the snazzy shoes in the middle.

Nude Bridesmaid Shoes Ann Taylor Nude Shoes with Flowers

I think they’re so fun and I’ve never worn them before. They were my sister’s shoes and she didn’t want them anymore, so I scooped them up!

Workout

Today’s workout started a little too early for comfort. I feel like my body will crash hard tonight!

Ryan and I headed to the gym at 5 a.m. for a workout. My workout included 25 minutes of cardio that I split between the treadmill and the elliptical. I also did an upper body strength workout which felt great! I have always loved training my shoulders, so any workout that includes shoulder exercises is always a good one in my book.

Breakfast

Once we made it home from the gym, it was time for breakfast.

almond butter english muffin

I toasted a whole wheat English muffin and topped it with crunchy Barney Butter almond butter and a drizzle of honey.

On the side I had a small bowl of scrambled eggs for some added protein.

Time to hit the road!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

The ones on the left are my favorite. Do you know where you got them from because I need a pair in my life. 🙂 Have fun!

I would advise against the ones in the middle. They’re pretty loud and won’t blend in with the others. Also the fact they have a lot of white in them. I was pretty low-maintenance too and told my bms to pick any silver shoe, but if they picked a silver shoe with all that white stuff on it I would definitely veto

I would go with the nude pumps. You don’t want the shoes to be too distracting, especially if it’s distracting away from the bride. Can’t go wrong with pumps!

I like the right-most pair. I think simple strappies go well with most anything, including that dress. I’ve gotten the “you pick shoes” thing before and find it oddly stressful, esp w/ shorter dresses that show off everyone’s choice

Definitely go with the nude pumps on the left. They are classy and timeless – just like the dress. Plus, not so flashy. Save the pretty ones in the middle for a fun date or Bachelorette Party.

I vote for the shoes on the left or the right. The pair in the middle is adorable, but I agree with many of the other commenters that the white frilly part is too distracting. I’m also letting my bridesmaids pick any nude shoe they want, and the middle pair would probably not be my favorite as it is less nude than white.

I love laid back brides! My best friend had a small wedding that was 2 weeks after I had given birth. She was so sweet and just let us pick our own dresses as long as they were black! it was outside and laid back, so it definitely worked. I was so relieved and thankful- I remembered why she was my best friend! I think that shoes in the middle are too cute, and I don’t think they are too loud- no one will be looking at your feet! 🙂

They’re really cool about it. I’m hourly, so it’s just a matter of me finding subs to cover my group ex classes and all of the instructors are really great about covering for each other. When I interviewed I was upfront about needing time away for travel/blogging events.

Save the pumps for work (not that you work in an office, but ya know what I mean 😉 )—too boring for a wedding!!! Either of the other two, but I am more inclined to like the middle pair. I don’t think the bride should dictate what guests wear, sorry! I mean, not something like this, at least!!! Shoes=minor. Dress, well, then it would be major 😉

    HAVE FUN!!!

I would say the ones on left or right…but I’m NOT a fashion-person. You’ll look great in any of them of course, but personally the middle ones remind me of a bit of a high-schooler or bar-hop kinda pair…not mature or classy like. Just me though!

The middle pair is adorable, and would be cute if you were wearing the dress for an occasion where you aren’t a bridesmaid. However, you should wear a pair more understated for the wedding. The pair on the right is cute and more subtle – I’d wear those. However, if other bridesmaid aren’t wearing sandals, the nude pumps would be perfect too.

Amy Dixon, Doris Thews, Douglas Brooks, Jay Blahnik, Josh Crosby, Mindy Mylrea, Stacey Lei Krauss and Todd Durkin are super fun! The Indo-Row class is always a great time!
