Hello June!

Now that June is officially in full swing, I find myself feeling more and more excited about some of the fun events I have on my calendar this month!

In chronological order:

  • Father’s Day
  • Blog travel (I’ll share more on this when I can!)
  • Michaela’s bachelorette party in Chicago

Bachelorette Party

Lots of travel at the end of the month! I can’t wait to see some of my best girlfriends and blog buddies!

A few things that aren’t officially on my calendar that I would really like to do this month include:

  • A day at a water park
  • BBQ with our small group
  • Trip to the dog beach

Clearly I am in the summer mindset!

My day began at 4:20 a.m. with the obnoxious buzz of my alarm. I worked the early shift at the gym and also trained a new client which went really well. I’ll be training her again on Wednesday and Friday this week and am already looking forward to it!

Once my shift at the gym was over, I ate the lunch I packed and sent emails to some of my clients and worked on a few training plans for a while.

Then it was time for my workout! I changed clothes and hopped on the treadmill for a quick 20-minute workout.

20 Minute Treadmill Interval Workout

After 20 minutes of cardio, I completed  a TRX workout that incorporated lots of upper body exercises. It was tough and a nice change of pace.

Once I was done with my workout, I drove home and immediately made myself a smoothie. Since my lunch was on the lighter side, I was ready for more food right when I walked through the door.

In my smoothie:

  • Frozen strawberries
  • Chocolate protein powder
  • Cocoa powder
  • Almond milk
  • Fresh spinach

Perfect post-workout snack!

I am planning to spend the rest of the day on the computer, catching up on emails and blog-related business. Later!

Question of the Afternoon

  • What is one thing you’re looking forward to this month?

  1. says

You do have some fun travel on the agenda!

I am so excited–next week is our family trip to a big lake–my parents have a houseboat, so to the lake we go! I love being among the mountains & in the lake (northern AZ/southern UT) and with my fam.

    Mmmmm smoothie sounds good!

  2. says

I could not be more excited for this month. My birthday is this week, vegas in two weeks, and my first half marathon at the very end of the month.

  3. says

Ah! Almost forgot about Father’s Day coming up! Thank goodness you reminded me there. That is SUCH an early start- props to you Julie! I have been getting up at 12:30, haha, but that’s due to jetlag!

  4. says

I saw your post this morning about your Dad’s birthday present. That was such an awesome idea. Can’t wait to use it on my dad, but the age will be higher. lol, (means more work for me. ha)
Well, I’m excited for lots of family vacations. Tim and my daughter finish up school this week and then off to some fun family outings. We have some Zoos to visit, LEGOLAND in Dallas, and lots of movies this summer. Along with house hunting, talk about a busy summer. 🙂

  5. says

Sounds like June will be filled with some pretty awesome things for you!
I’m pretty excited for June too. Tons of outdoor activities, drinks outside, warm weather. I just get excited.

  6. says

I am looking forward to the weather getting much nicer here in Seattle and also participating in some races!!
Hopefully Portland will have some great weather when you visit!! Have you been there before?

  7. Amanda B says

My sister turns 21 tonight and we’re going out to celebrate. Other than that, a birthday party for my nephew and TV shows!!!

  8. says

SO wish I could go to Fitbloggin this year (especially since I’ve only been blogging for a few months now) I know that I could learn SO much, but it kinda snuck up on me so I’ll have to save up for next year maybe 🙂

  9. says

I’m looking forward to moving into our house!! So exciting 🙂 And slightly overwhelming haha Do you find that it takes you a while to finish your smoothie? I had one for lunch and it took me like an hour to eat it haha

  10. Emily says

Portland reader here! I love that you are visiting my fabulous city! If you need any restaurant or shopping recommendations while you are here, I’d love to help you out. Happy June!

  11. says

June looks like an exciting month for you! I bet FitBloggin is going to be a blast, I wish I could go. I’m also hoping to make it to the dog beach this month. We’ve been to one on the Atlantic coast in Florida so now we have to go to one on the Pacific coast in Cali!

I love that your tuna salad is packed with all those carrots and celery! It looks so crunchy 🙂 I’m excited to be graduating from college this month! It has been a LONG time coming, and although I won’t be completely through with school (still working toward my teaching credentials/masters), I’ll finally have my B.A!

  13. says

It is my best friend’s 30th birthday later in June and it is going to be such a fun night of dancing and drinking and just generally having fun I can’t wait.

I wish it was summer here. It has just turned to winter here in Australia and it is coat, glove and scarf weather.

I’m so glad I found your tuna salad recipe it is now one of my lunch staples, I’m obsessed 🙂

  14. says

Gah! I feel like I’m writing on a celebrity’s blog! I’ve been reading your blog daily for awhile now and have found it SO helpful and inspiring, but I’ve never commented before. That is so awesome that FitBloggin’ is going to be in Portland (otherwise known as where I am, yay!) It’s a great city and I hope you have a blast! (I’d love to go but I only *just* brushed off my blog and started posting…um, yesterday.)

I’m looking forward to going to Alaska in a few weeks!

  15. says

It still doesn’t feel like summer here (weather-wise) and that’s driving me crazy! I’m so ready for hot days.
This month my husband and I celebrate our 1-year wedding anniversary, which I’m really excited for!

  16. says

You might like the Rise & Shine alarm clock from Brookstone! I bought it because it has a light that gets brighter and brighter until wake up time which is great in Chicago winters when you want to feel like there’s “natural light” to wake up to. But, the alarm on it sounds like a meditation gong and it gets gradually louder as it is time to wake up. I find it is much less jarring than the harsh “buzz” clocks!

  17. Tessa says

Ooh I live in Portland! You will have a blast for sure. I am looking forward to my trip to Costa Rica in just 10 days!

  18. Alison says

I love busy but fun months! That’s the case for me as well. I’m finishing up school finals and then heading to visit my cousins for the rest of the month!
P.S. I did your Lower Body Burnout Workout today and it was killer! Feelin’ the soreness already!

  19. says

This is my last full week of high school! I’m going to the US v Panama National Men’s Soccer game on June 11, last day of high school June 13, graduation June 15! Half marathon June 22, and college orientation June 24-26. Busy busy! 🙂

  20. says

You’ve got a fun month ahead! I’m hoping for some big things this month, but we’ll see what it brings. I really want to go to FitBloggin but it just wasn’t in the budget this year since money’s tight!

  21. says

My boyfriend and I are vacationing in South Florida this month! Definitely a little nervous about all the Alligator stories I hear… But really excited for the beach:)

  22. says

June is always a crazy month for my husband and I. But this year I am most excited about FitBloggin! I just re launched my blog on Saturday so I can’t wait to meet bloggers in person. This is my first major blog conference! Can’t wait to see you there.

  23. Jodea @ chillichocolatelove.com says

Wow, an action-packed month for you! I had two vacations in May so June is a bit quieter. I’m looking forward to planting in my garden with my Mum and her boyfriend.

  24. says

Ooooh a BBQ at the beach would be reallly nice this summer! But what I’m really excited for is to finally give birth to our daughter in 11 days! Oh my, it might not even be 11 days, who knows? But thinking about that day is so cool yet surreal and strange at the same time–it’s like a whole slew of emotions jumbled up together. 🙂

  25. says

I am looking forward to a lot this month as it is one month before my wedding!! We have the bachelorette party this weekend, a bridal shower the following weekend and lots of last minute finishing touches 🙂 Have fun with your June!! It sounds amazing!

  26. says

Hi Julie! I emailed you a while ago about this, but I’m curious to know how you got into freelancing full-time. How are you able to find enough work to keep you busy (or are you not writing as much now that you’re working at the gym)? Would you be willing to do a post on this, or should I email you again? Thanks!

  27. says

Fun! I love the summer so much. This winter seemed like such a long one and I kind of hibernated it away hahah. This June I’m excited for one of my best friend’s going away party (bittersweet, obviously), Father’s Day, a few girls night’s out, and just hanging out in the sunshine 🙂
