Adele 3x

January 23, 2012 by Julie 71 Comments

I think Adele has one of the most gorgeous and timeless voices I’ve heard in a long time, so I must beg the local radio stations in Ocala to stop incessantly overplaying her music.

I want to love her music and her voice for a long time to come, not get so sick of her songs that I immediately flip to a different radio station after the first word.

Three different Adele songs played on the radio within an hour this morning… one on the way to the gym, one at the gym and one on the way home from the gym.

Sometimes I wonder if the artists themselves wish that radio stations wouldn’t play their music on repeat or if they love it because more radio plays means more exposure and more album sales?

I know this is a random thought, but do you guys ever think about the people who used to date the singers behind tremendously successful songs? I wonder how they feel when they have to hear their ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend’s songs blasted over and over. I’d imagine that would get really old really quickly. I’d probably be a CDs-only-in-the-car kind of girl if I dated Bruno Mars or Adam Levine from Maroon 5. (Oooh baby!)

Workout

Today’s workout began with 20 minutes on the elliptical before hopping off to complete a leg workout that had my legs shakin’!

leg workout

I finished my workout with five minutes of abdominal exercises, topping it off with a one-minute plank. It has been a while since I’ve done planks because my elbow was still rather bruised from December’s bike accident and it hurt to put pressure on it for quite some time. It finally feels a-okay!

Breakfast

Today’s breakfast was extra cheesy!

scrambled eggs with goat cheese 003

I made a plate of scrambled eggs with three eggs and milk, shredded cheese and goat cheese stirred into the eggs.

The goat cheese added an extra punch of creamy, savory flavor that I absolutely loved.

Time to get crackin’ on my to-do list!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

That’s an interesting question haha the only ex gf I’ve heard mentioned was the one that Hey Deliah song was about.

Workout question: did you ever do more cardio vs strength in your workouts? Have you seen differences in your body by focusing on strength training instead? As a weight lifting newbie, I’m curious!

I love Adele too, although here they play her so so so much on the radio that sometimes the songs get a little repetitive. Still, if I were a male who had been going out with her at some point in the past, I’d be kicking myself today!

I LOVE Adele! But agreed that she is a bit overplayed. I think it’s cuz she is on the Top 40, easy listening, pop, club stations alike!

I have been using this remix in my spin classes every week for a few months without fail: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3p3sM3FE_u0

    Hope you enjoy!

Glad to hear your elbow is better. I don’t listen to the radio for the reason you mentioned above. I love listening to Pandora radio though. I have a request. You may have received this request before but would you consider posting images of your exercises? I’m familiar with most but not all. Not sure what a One-leg split squat with exercise ball would look like. Well if I did it I’m sure I would end up in a split and let’s just say it won’t be pretty. Plus I’m too lazy to google or you tube the exercise move and it would help me stay here on your blog. Just a thought.

love the suggestion! i usually try to post a link or picture of the image of a new exercise that pops up on the blog the first time i post about it, but try not to do this every time b/c i think it might get a little redundant for regular readers. for the exercise you mentioned, i touched on it in this post: https://www.pbfingers.com/2011/08/02/house-call/ by linking to a demo on my friend carissa’s blog. i hope this helps! i’ll definitely try to include more info/images a little more regularly though as i think many people would benefit.

I hate when they overplay songs on the radio. It makes me start to dislike songs that I onced loved.
Adele’s ex might not be too happy to hear her on the radio, but I bet she’s happy that he’s her ex and the basis for all those songs that made her famous!

And now I have Rumor Has It playing over and over in my head! Haha. I totally feel you on loving her but getting sick of hearing her on repeat on the radio. One of the reasons I love the classic rock stations, you don’t hear the same 10 songs ever hour (like all the pop stations).

Cheesy eggs are THE BEST. I am a cheese addict. Admitting my problem is the first step, right?

REALLY not trying to spam, but I just reposted an article about Adele on my blog regarding her stake in a “Diva Competition”– if you have any interest, check it out here:

    http://hrcktheherald.wordpress.com/2012/01/23/the-premiere-prima-donnas/

A segment from the post: “As much as the Committee loves “Someone Like You” (sources report that the Committee listens to the song somewhere between 3 and 12 times a day), there’s little chance it will ever breach the Iconic Song zone. Adele might have outsold Whitney’s The Bodyguardalbum, but in ten years, no fat Taiwanese kid is going to set the Internet on fire with his note-for-note cover of ‘Rolling in the Deep.’” Ha!

I’m not sure how musical artists approach radio play of their songs – they do, of course, get royalties when their music is played, but I don’t know how that income compares to that from album/downloaded song sales.

I agree! I hate when I love a song, but it is so overplayed I end up being annoyed by it! Regarding ex boyfriends/girlfriends of singers, I always think about Carrie Underwood’s song, “Before he Cheats”. Whoever she dated and cheated on her, I am sure regrets it now and cringes everytime he hears that song!!

That is SO funny that you say that about the people who used to date singers with famous songs, because I actually used to date someone who made it pretty far on a recent American Idol season and now every time I see updates online with his new videos/performances/songs, etc. it feels a little weird. And actually, he recently covered Adele’s “Someone Like You” and my sister and I can NOT stop thinking that it is somewhat directed towards me. Haha! I am probably just full of myself. Either way, he is so, so talented, we are on good terms, and I still love hearing his music.

Funny you say that because I roomed with a girl in college for a few weeks who had dated one of the singers from 112. Remember them? Cupid? And she said she seriously couldn’t listen to any songs by them because it would drive her crazy.

I feel the exact same way about Adele! She has an amazing voice and I really want to like her but my gosh the radio stations need to realize she has more than a few songs. Doesn’t she have like three albums to choose from?! Radio is horrible in Chicago and it seems the few stations we have to choose from all have the same playlist. There is a good chance I could change the station three to four times and ALL the stations will either have on Adele or LMFAO.

Okay …. Now that I’ve gotten that out of my system… 😉

I think about that, and I also think about how the exes of actors must feel, I mean actors’ faces are plastered on trailers and print ads and the internet, and everyone talks about them. I think that’d be kind of rough!

But to be a singer’s ex would probably be harder.. I’d probably worry that their angry songs were about me, or worse–their sad ‘I used to love you’ songs!
