Cardio + Arms Workout

May 7, 2013 by Julie 77 Comments

Last night was the final official meeting of our small group. Ten weeks flew by!

We met up at Lee and Katie’s house for a BBQ and dug into some of the most delicious food!

small group bbq

Our group knows a thing or two about amazing food. One couple is from Louisiana and made red beans and rice from scratch and prepared a smoked turkey. Another couple runs two local restaurants and made everyone happy when they showed up with homemade chips, salsa and guacamole from Latinos y Mas.

I brought the Pioneer Woman’s Best Chocolate Sheet Cake Ever and it was a hit!

chocolate sheet cake

I’ve never made a sheet cake before and thought it looked more like brownies than cake, but the taste was fabulous. If you’re a chocolate lover like me, I highly recommend it!

We served the sheet cake with cookies ‘n’ cream ice cream which was a winning combination.

Ryan dubbed it “flat cake” and the name stuck throughout the night. Though it doesn’t look like much, “flat cake” is pretty darn delicious!

Workout

Since we were up later than usual last night and I will be working late tonight, I opted to sleep in a bit this morning and headed to the gym around 7:30 a.m.

I completed a strength training workout that focused on my biceps, triceps and shoulders and incorporated bursts of cardio. My workout looked like this:

Cardio Arms Workout

Breakfast

Once I was done at the gym, I drove home and made a breakfast sandwich with eggs, cheese and strawberry jelly.

egg sandwich cheese and jelly

I love this combination!

Now it’s time to shower and head to work. I have a short break in my shift today, so I’ll be sure to pop in and say hi after lunch!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I’d rather a dense, brownie like chocolate cake over something fluffy and dry any day!

That cake looks so good! I’ve made a ton of her recipes and they always come out delicious. I always bring dessert too! I feel like it gets the most appreciated out of all the other dishes ;).

Quick question if you don’t mind! What program do you use to create your workout routine pictures? I could have sworn that I’ve read a post by you saying how you do it, but I couldn’t find it even after looking in the blogger tip section.

Like I said before, thanks for being so inspiring! I look forward to reading pb fingers everyday and the blog I made a few days ago is going great thanks to all of your tips from Blog Talk 🙂

Love the look of this workout, I love breaking things up like that between cardio and strength – definitely keeps the boredom at bay.

I was wondering what your take is on yoga as strength training? I find it’s the only form of strength I enjoy doing, and my goal is to keep my bones protected (not necessarily gain muscle mass). Just curious what your thoughts were on that. 🙂

Hi Julie! I can’t wait to try that workout, toning my arms is a major goal of mine for summer. I wanted to tell say that you inspired me to start hitting the gym in the morning before work. For the last 3 workdays I’ve gotten up at 5AM and made my way to the gym. I can’t believe how much I like working out that early. It is so nice to leave work in the evening and know I can just go home to relax or take my dog for a long walk. What a big difference, thank you! 🙂

So…this morning after I completed Workout A of Tina’s BBB I jumped on the stationary bike for some cardio. I was reading my May edition of Women’s Health and GUESS WHO was featured in one of the articles? YOU!!! Not only were you featured once, but twice! And…your name and food tip was the first one mentioned out of the list of 50. WOW!!! That is so awesome to be named first and foremenost in a magazine article that featured tons of other food bloggers. I just thought it was ironic I read that while doing Tina’s BBB, since it was through your blog that I found out about the bootcamp! Ha! Anyway, congrats!
