Hello June!

June 3, 2013 by Julie 72 Comments

Now that June is officially in full swing, I find myself feeling more and more excited about some of the fun events I have on my calendar this month!

In chronological order:

  • Father’s Day
  • Blog travel (I’ll share more on this when I can!)
  • Michaela’s bachelorette party in Chicago

Bachelorette Party

  • My sister’s 24th birthday
  • FitBloggin’ in Portland

FitBloggin'

Lots of travel at the end of the month! I can’t wait to see some of my best girlfriends and blog buddies!

A few things that aren’t officially on my calendar that I would really like to do this month include:

  • A day at a water park
  • BBQ with our small group
  • Trip to the dog beach

Clearly I am in the summer mindset!

Today

My day began at 4:20 a.m. with the obnoxious buzz of my alarm. I worked the early shift at the gym and also trained a new client which went really well. I’ll be training her again on Wednesday and Friday this week and am already looking forward to it!

Once my shift at the gym was over, I ate the lunch I packed and sent emails to some of my clients and worked on a few training plans for a while.

Then it was time for my workout! I changed clothes and hopped on the treadmill for a quick 20-minute workout.

20 Minute Treadmill Interval Workout

After 20 minutes of cardio, I completed  a TRX workout that incorporated lots of upper body exercises. It was tough and a nice change of pace.

Once I was done with my workout, I drove home and immediately made myself a smoothie. Since my lunch was on the lighter side, I was ready for more food right when I walked through the door.

In my smoothie:

  • Frozen strawberries
  • Chocolate protein powder
  • Cocoa powder
  • Almond milk
  • Fresh spinach

Perfect post-workout snack!

I am planning to spend the rest of the day on the computer, catching up on emails and blog-related business. Later!

Question of the Afternoon

  • What is one thing you’re looking forward to this month?

Have you ever tried making your own almond milk? It’s surprisingly easy and is so much better for you – none of the preservatives and added crap. Here’s my recipe: http://thefamilypracticeblog.com/2013/02/how-to-milk-the-udder-less-almond/

My mom is coming in to town later this month to spend time with me and baby Addie. 🙂 I’m definitely looking forward to seeing her. And she’s bringing her puppy, Sophie, which is an added bonus! 😉

Hi Julie! I emailed you a while ago about this, but I’m curious to know how you got into freelancing full-time. How are you able to find enough work to keep you busy (or are you not writing as much now that you’re working at the gym)? Would you be willing to do a post on this, or should I email you again? Thanks!

Fun! I love the summer so much. This winter seemed like such a long one and I kind of hibernated it away hahah. This June I’m excited for one of my best friend’s going away party (bittersweet, obviously), Father’s Day, a few girls night’s out, and just hanging out in the sunshine 🙂

I highly recommend Aquatica if you haven’t been. I LOVE water parks too, and it is fun and relaxing and has awesome rides. Have a fun, busy month!

What do you do with the seaweed? Do you just eat it on its own?
