NYC On The Horizon

December 10, 2013 by Julie 79 Comments

Whenever I have a vacation or special trip planned for the end of the week, the beginning of the week seems to pass by at a snail’s pace. I am flying to New York City early Thursday morning and that’s all I can think about right now. It doesn’t help that my girlfriends and I cannot stop texting each other about it!

Vegas Bachelorette Party

(So excited to see these ladies – plus Laurel – this week!!!)

The guys are coming on this trip, too, and you better believe they will be dressing up for SantaCon as well. No they’re not wearing Christmas onesies like we are, but that doesn’t mean they’re holding back. Ryan’s $16 costume arrived on Saturday and I could not stop laughing when he tried it on. I’ll be sure to share lots of pictures, but until then, let’s just say his costume jingles.

Workout

This morning, I slept in and didn’t make it to the gym until close to 7:30 a.m. Today’s workout began with a quick 15-minute treadmill incline walking workout before I hopped off and completed a Nike Training Club workout.

Nike Training Club

I did the 30-minute advanced Shakedown workout and left the gym with one heck of a red face.

Breakfast

I actually ate breakfast before my workout today since I woke up late. Today’s morning meal included an egg white and oatmeal protein pancake, a banana and a tangerine.

Yum!

Question of the Morning

  • If you could take a trip anywhere in the world during the holiday season, where would you want to go?

I think New York City is a magical place during the holidays! I’d also love to visit a beautiful lodge/ski resort during the holiday season sometime, but I don’t have a specific place in mind.

***

P.S. 15 days ‘til Christmas!!!

I love that NTC app. I use it at least a couple of times a week.
Honestly I love home for the holidays 🙂 But if I had to go somewhere it would either be Toronto to visit my Grandparents or England to visit my husbands family!
    Have a great trip!

So jealous of your New York trip! I’ve never been, but it’s high on my list of places to go – and I’d love to it this time of the year, particularly.

NYC is so pretty during Christmas! I was there a few weeks ago and it was already looking Christmas-y. I’d have to say my own town, Williamsburg VA, is gorgeous during the holidays. All the old colonial buildings get lit up for the holidays and it’s so pretty to see!

Thank you! & Same to you in NYC!… If you are looking for some place relaxed with great wine, I recommend Riposo72 on West 72nd and Columbus. It’s my new favorite wine bar. It’s small, low key, and I love the flatbreads. I just hosted a book club meeting there this past weekend.

        Safe travels!

How cute is that picture! NYC is probably one of the best places to go for Christmas. The entire city just screams festivity. I think I would go to Paris if I could go anywhere just to experience something different. All I can say is bundle up!

I can’t wait to experience this city; I’ve never been before and the movies always make the holidays in NYC seem magical!!! And I think we just might have to venture over to SantaCon land (lacking costumes sadly; so i’m sure we’ll stick out like sore thumbs)!

NYC is definitely a fantastic place to be during the holiday season! I’m so fortunate to live close to it. I’ll be there on Friday and I’m super excited since we haven’t seen all the city Christmas decor yet!
I feel like Northern California would also be a beautiful place to spend the holiday season— all the redwoods, snow-capped mountains, and lodges.

My husband’s Aunt and Uncle have a cabin on a lake in upstate New York. They visit it every other Christmas (rotating a warm year with us on the opposite years). To me, that sounds like what Christmas is supposed to be like in story books. It would definitely be where I would want to visit one of these years.

I hope you have so much fun in NYC. I agree with you that NYC seems like a magical place during the holiday season. I would love to go there – the closest I’ve ever been to Christmas season there is Thanksgiving, which was cool too because it’s almost Christmas there. I would also love to go to a place like Lake Louise that is guaranteed a white Christmas. Denver isn’t near guaranteed one.

You will love SantaCon. I did it a few years ago, and it was a blast!

Expect gigantic crowds though…so don’t get upset if you only make it to a couple of bars. It’s all about having fun with your friends 🙂 It’s just hilarious to see all these elves and santas walking around the streets of NYC – truly unforgettable.

If I could go anywhere during the holidays, since I already lived in NYC, I’d have to say London. Love Actually totally hooked me, and I’ve wanted to go there for Christmas ever since.
