10 Make Ahead Breakfast Ideas

May 4, 2016 by Julie 26 Comments

For the past few months, I’ve been all about make ahead breakfast recipes. I quickly realized after Chase was born that if I wanted to eat something nutritious for breakfast, prepping something healthy to eat the night before (or several days before) was key for me.

Knowing I have a tasty bowl of overnight oats waiting for me or a veggie-packed frittata ready in the fridge makes eating a satisfying breakfast first thing in the morning a million times easier!

10 Make-Ahead Breakfast Recipes - Everything from frittatas and muffins to overnight oats and paleo breakfast ideas!

Today I am rounding up 10 breakfast recipes I’ve shared on the blog in the past that can all be prepped ahead of time. This list includes some old favorites and a few newer recipes I like to whip up in the kitchen on a regular basis.

I hope you find a few that pop out at you and make grabbing a delicious and filling breakfast in the morning a little bit easier!

10 Make Ahead Breakfast Ideas

  • Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookie Dough Overnight Oats

These egg muffins are a deliciously savory grab-and-go breakfast you can completely customize by choosing your favorite ingredients. Play around with different vegetables, meats and cheeses to create your perfect egg muffin!

  • Chocolate Coconut Chia Seed Pudding

Chocolate Coconut Chia Seed Pudding

Though most chia seed pudding recipes require a few hours of refrigeration to thicken, this is one you can eat instantly (though you may also allow it to thicken in the fridge for a little longer if you prefer). Whether you make it ahead of time or right before you’re ready to eat, the rich chocolate flavor and hint of coconut will remind you of an Almond Joy candy bar!

  • Peanut Butter Baked Steel Cut Oatmeal

This recipe for peanut butter crunch baked steel cut oatmeal is packed with peanut butter flavor and makes a perfect lazy Sunday morning breakfast. • Chicken Sausage and Spinach Frittata

Paleo Frittata

This frittata is packed with flavor and vegetables and, when served with freshly sliced avocado and a side of healthy breakfast sweet potatoes, keeps me full for hours. And for those of you who may be gluten-free or following a Paleo or Whole30 diet, this recipe falls under that umbrella, too!

  • Oatmeal Cookie Dough Overnight Oats

I first shared this recipe back in 2012 after receiving many requests for a dairy-free version of overnight oats and it’s still one of my all-time favorites!

These muffins are fantastic and make a great base recipe for gluten-free muffins that you can play around with and experiment with various additions like blueberries, dried cranberries and more.

Yum! I want to try all of these, they all sound so delicious. I need to start making overnight oats again. I usually make smoothies for my husband and I in the morning. Sometime’s I’ll prep little baggies with all the fruit and spinach so I just have to add almond milk and ice.

Breakfast is my absolute favorite meal! For the past few weeks I’ve been jumping on the meal-prep bandwagon and made an egg bake to last me the work week. I really want to try egg muffins next, but I think I want to get a silicon muffin pan first because scrubbing my regular muffin tin after make egg muffins is the worst.

I got hungry looking at all those delicious dishes. Pinned them so I remember to try them out.
My usual breakfast is vegan protein shake and berries and I prepare them fresh, When I make green shakes I do double portion to have ready the following morning.
In the winter I like to make overnight oats with chia

Yummin – especially that peanut butter baked steel cut oatmeal. ERMAHGAH… can I have some right now!?

I put a recipe on my blog a while back for make ahead breakfast sandwiches that have been my life-saver. They’re delicious, nutritious (depending on your crazy level with the toppings – sometimes you just feel it, ya’ know?), and are easy to transport and bring to the office. Needless to say, I’m definitely a super fan.

I’m sloooowly falling in love with chia. Something about the texture has made an acquired taste in my camp, but I’ll definitely try some of your recipes out to see how I feel. You haven’t steered me wrong thus far. 🙂

    Happy Wednesday!

I recently discovered that Costco had started carrying Kodiak Cake pancake mix, and now it’s one of my favorites for Ellie. I make a small batch of batter and keep it in a tupperware so I can easily make her a couple protein pancakes in the morning.

I love any sort of breakfast casserole but lately oatmeal has been my go-to breakfast. If we have time on the weekend we make Kodiak Cakes for a protein filled breakfast!

yum! i love all these ideas! I love mini egg and veggies muffins, chia seed pudding, or overnight oats for an easy breakfast during the week. I also make 2 days worth of smoothies when I make them so I have one for the following day, which is always nice so I can have extra sleep in the morning.

I need to try the oatless oatmeal! I’ve been using quinoa flakes as a substitute for baked oatmeal since I figured out that I can’t stomach oats (related to my Celiacs) but I’m always looking for other yummy, sweet baked treats.

I am all for the make ahead breakfast. By the way, my Mom made me your customizable granola bars last time I went home to visit Florida. 🙂

Perhaps my favorite make ahead is this version of overnight oats with protein powder and coconut: http://aladygoeswest.com/2014/10/23/best-ever-overnight-oats-recipe-with-coconut/

We loving making breakfast burritos to store in the freezer! We can knock out two dozen or so and eat on them for several days! Maybe not the healthiest thing ever, but you could certainly lighten them up 🙂

I really like having a pre made breakfast. Lately, I have been making a batch of quinoa ahead of time and keeping it in the fridge. I just add some almond milk, raisins, cinnamon and a little maple syrup, and I am all set.

the egg muffins and chia seed pudding are really “in” right now, and i don’t know what’s taking me so long to try it! i think i might be adding this to my “boring” breakfast routine really soon.. my go to: oatmeal! 1/2 cup of oatmeal, 1/2 cup of almond milk, 1/2 cup of water + cinnamon + vanilla extract. cook for a few minutes! then top it off with strawberries, 1/2 banana and maple syrup.

my friend, my friend – it is SO good! and really easy.

I pretty much have porridge / oatmeal every day. It only takes me 3 minutes so I don’t really need to make it ahead but I’m looking forward to trying out some of your twists.

Isn’t oatless oatmeal just a regular old ‘meal’? 😉
